Job summary

M&M Quality Grinding in Hodgkins, IL, is seeking an Operations Planner & Buyer to schedule workflow across departments, manage work orders in ERP, and procure raw materials to meet production deadlines.

You will collaborate with Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Maintenance/Automation, and Shipping to optimize resources, uphold quality, safety, and on-time delivery while promoting continuous improvement and a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in production planning and/or purchasing in machining/manufacturing.
• High school diploma required.
• Bachelor's degree in business, math, or related field (preferred).
• Strong math, analytical, and computer skills.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Excellent PC skills; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 facility experience essential.
• Spanish language capabilities desirable.

Responsibilities

• Purchase raw material and tooling for machining jobs.
• Plan and schedule production orders based on customer demands using Global Shop Solutions (ERP).
• Review production orders created during estimating for accuracy.
• Update work orders daily to ensure ERP accuracy.
• Oversee inventory and adjust as needed for accuracy.
• Track vendors' performance and compliance with schedule.
• Coordinate ship dates and update team.
• Run production and inventory reports for scheduling and efficiency.
• Streamline machining and secondary operations, including centerless grinding.
• Create processes and training programs to maximize efficiency.
• Create effective workflows and initiate lean projects.
• Manage inventory control of raw materials and finished goods.
• Investigate workplace incidents and implement preventive measures.
• Stay updated on industry safety practices.
• Serve as the primary safety contact and address issues promptly.
• Create and update Work Instructions to document processes.
