Job summary

Premier Granite & Stone LLC in West Michigan and Indiana seeks a CAD Technician to transform customer designs and measurements into accurate digital layouts for fabrication. You will support production teams, collaborate across departments, and ensure projects meet Premier’s quality standards.

Responsibilities include creating site-specific layouts, verifying measurements and files, and coordinating with fabrication and installation teams to resolve issues and maintain workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in installation, fabrication, construction, carpentry, CNC operation or related hands-on work.
• Familiarity with CAD software or digital layout tools; training provided for the right candidate.
• Strong reading of blueprints, measurements, and technical drawings.

Job Overview

The CAD Technician plays a key role in transforming customer designs and site measurements into accurate digital layouts for fabrication. This role supports our production teams, collaborates across departments, and helps ensure every project meets Premier’s quality standards.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Develop optimized project solutions for customers based on site conditions and design needs


• Prepare accurate, site‑specific project layouts using CAD software


• Communicate proactively with customers and internal teams throughout the project


• Verify measurements, templates, and digital files for accuracy before production


• Coordinate with Saw, Router, and Fabrication teams, assisting as needed


• Support overall job flow on CNC machines when required


• Collaborate with Install, Templating, and Project Management teams to ensure smooth project execution


• Identify potential design or fabrication issues and recommend solutions


• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace


• Contribute to continuous improvement of programming workflows and fabrication standards


• Maintain accurate documentation of programs, revisions, and project files


• Follow all safety protocols and assist with routine equipment checks


• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a related field such as installation, fabrication, construction, carpentry, CNC operation, or other hands‑on technical work


• Familiarity with CAD software or digital layout tools (we will train the right candidate)


• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, measurements, and technical drawings


• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site measurements, or project specifications


• Solid problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions


• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customers and internal teams


• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in digital files and project layouts


• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced production environment


• Willingness to assist across departments when needed


• Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to manage time effectively


• Ability to lift/move materials as required and follow all safety protocols
