Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and adjust CAD drawings and 3D models for countertop fabrication.
• Program CNC machines using AlphaCAM or similar software.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Estimators, and Installers to confirm project specifications.
• Translate architect/designer plans into machine-ready files.
• Troubleshoot issues with files or machine programs with the fabrication team.
• Verify measurements, materials, and part configurations before production runs.
• Contribute to quality control for drawings and outgoing parts.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Estimators, and Installers on specs.
• Maintain clear communication with production and operations teams.
• Participate in design reviews and workflow optimization meetings.
• Maintain organized digital files and version control.
• Help develop CAD/CAM standards, templates, and best practices.
• Update machine setups, tooling, and part identification documentation.
• Identify opportunities to optimize programming and fabrication processes.
• Champion accuracy, efficiency, and quality in digital workflows.

Position Summary

The CAD Technician will play a key role in supporting our fabrication and installation teams by producing accurate, high-quality CAD files, CNC programming, and digital templates for countertops and other surface materials. The ideal candidate will have experience with CAD software and a working understanding of countertop materials, fabrication, and installation workflows.

This role bridges design, production, and field execution — ensuring that digital files translate into precision manufacturing and installation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

CAD & Programming

• Develop and adjust CAD drawings and 3D models for countertop fabrication
• Program CNC machines using AlphaCAM (or similar software)
• Ensure accuracy of digital templates, tool paths, and cut files prior to production
• Translate architect/designer plans into machine-ready files

Fabrication Support

• Work closely with the fabrication team to troubleshoot issues with files or machine programs
• Verify measurements, materials, and part configurations before production runs
• Contribute to quality control practices for incoming drawings and outgoing parts
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Estimators, and Installers to confirm project specifications
• Maintain clear communication with production and operations teams
• Participate in meetings to review designs, resolve issues, and optimize workflows

Documentation & Standards

• Maintain organized digital files and ensure proper version control
• Help develop and refine CAD/CAM standards, templates, and best practices
• Keep documentation up to date for machine setups, tooling, and part identification
• Identify opportunities to optimize programming and fabrication processes
• Champion accuracy, efficiency, and quality in all digital production workflows

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in CAD programming, ideally in a fabrication environment
• Experience using AlphaCAM (or equivalent CNC programming software)
• Strong understanding of CNC file preparation and toolpath generation
• Familiarity with countertop materials (e.g., natural stone, quartz, solid surface) and fabrication principles
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with complex geometric data
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
• Comfortable learning new software, systems, and technology tools (JobTread experience a plus)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CNC machinery used in countertop fabrication
• Knowledge of templating software or digital measuring tools
• Understanding of fabrication and installation processes, tolerances, and field considerations
• Experience supporting production teams with digital & technical documentation
• Organized and process-oriented
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Problem-solving mindset and commitment to accuracy
• Proficient with Windows OS and industry software tools
• Good communicator — both written and verbal
• Work primarily in an office or shop environment
• May be required to visit fabrication or jobsite locations occasionally
