Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply management, Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in supply management, production planning, materials planning, or a related discipline required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience using an ERP system for production planning, purchasing, scheduling, or material tracking.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Microsoft Office experience (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
  • Preferred: CPIM certification or progress toward certification.
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules for assigned manufacturing locations.
  • Coordinate with operations leadership to determine production timing, sequencing, and resource requirements.
  • Evaluate equipment availability, seasonal demand, labor, material, and warehouse capacity for planning.
  • Perform routine purchasing support activities, including PO entry and supplier follow-up.
  • Manage production plans to meet finished goods inventory targets while minimizing downtime and overtime.
  • Monitor sales orders and forecasted demand to support customer service objectives.
  • Adjust plans for promotions, seasonality, holidays, weather, and logistics constraints.
  • Review demand trends to plan for runouts, product changes, and lifecycle events.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to identify planning efficiencies and service improvements.
  • Support special projects and supplier reviews with historical or projected material movement analysis.

Job description

Overview

The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating production schedules for assigned manufacturing facilities in support of customer demand, replenishment requirements, and finished goods inventory objectives. This position evaluates production capacity, material availability, labor resources, warehouse constraints, customer delivery requirements, and product-specific parameters to establish effective and attainable production plans. The role collaborates closely with operations, materials planning, procurement, logistics, customer service, and other internal stakeholders to address schedule changes, resolve material or production constraints, and support timely product availability.

This position is based at an active mine site and requires daily onsite presence. Work conditions may include uneven terrain, climbing ladders, navigating steps, and exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, rain, or mud. Monday - Friday onsite required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules for assigned manufacturing locations.
  • Coordinate with operations leadership to determine production timing, sequencing, and resource requirements needed to meet finished goods demand.
  • Evaluate equipment availability, seasonal demand patterns, labor capacity, material availability, warehouse capacity, and customer delivery requirements when preparing production schedules.
  • Perform routine purchasing support activities as needed, including purchase order entry, supplier delivery monitoring, and follow-up on ordered materials.
  • Manage production plans to support finished goods inventory targets while helping minimize downtime, changeovers, and overtime requirements.
  • Monitor sales orders, forecasted demand, un-forecasted demand, and finished goods safety stock requirements to support customer service objectives.
  • Assess changes in demand or supply requirements and adjust plans for customer promotions, seasonal shifts, holidays, weather-related impacts, and logistical constraints.
  • Review sales and demand trends to support planning for product runouts, discontinued items, packaging changes, and related lifecycle events.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings with supply chain, operations, and business leadership to identify planning efficiencies and service-level improvements.
  • Support special projects and facility initiatives, including supplier review surveys and historical or projected material movement and usage analysis.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply management, Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field required.
  • Two to five years of experience in supply management, production planning, materials planning, manufacturing operations, or a related discipline required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience using an ERP system such as JDE, Oracle, SAP, or a comparable platform for production planning, purchasing, scheduling, or material tracking activities required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing facility preferred.
  • CPIM certification or progress toward certification preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with data analysis, reporting, pivot tables, and lookup formulas preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems used for production planning, purchase order entry, material shipment tracking, and schedule management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with strong emphasis on Excel-based analysis, reporting, and planning tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate schedules, materials, inventory, and customer demand in a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and respond appropriately to changing business priorities.
