This position is based at an active mine site and requires daily onsite presence. Work conditions may include uneven terrain, climbing ladders, navigating steps, and exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, rain, or mud.
Position Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating production schedules for assigned manufacturing facilities in support of customer demand, replenishment requirements, and finished goods inventory objectives. This role evaluates production capacity, material availability, labor resources, warehouse constraints, customer delivery requirements, and product-specific parameters to establish effective and attainable production plans.
Working closely with operations, materials planning, procurement, logistics, customer service, and other internal stakeholders, the Production Planner helps ensure timely product availability while responding to changing production and customer needs.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules for assigned manufacturing locations
- Coordinate with operations leadership to determine production timing, sequencing, and resource requirements needed to meet finished goods demand
- Evaluate equipment availability, seasonal demand patterns, labor capacity, material availability, warehouse capacity, and customer delivery requirements when preparing production schedules
- Manage production plans to support finished goods inventory targets while helping minimize downtime, changeovers, and overtime requirements
- Monitor sales orders, forecasted demand, unforecasted demand, and finished goods safety stock requirements to support customer service objectives
- Assess changes in demand or supply requirements and adjust plans for customer promotions, seasonal shifts, holidays, weather-related impacts, and logistical constraints
- Perform purchasing support activities as needed, including purchase order entry, supplier delivery monitoring, and follow-up on ordered materials
- Review sales and demand trends to support planning for product runouts, discontinued items, packaging changes, and related lifecycle events
- Participate in cross-functional meetings with supply chain, operations, and business leadership to identify planning efficiencies and service-level improvements
- Support special projects and facility initiatives, including supplier review surveys and historical or projected material movement and usage analysis
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Supply Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in production planning, materials planning, supply chain, manufacturing operations, or a related discipline
- Experience using ERP systems such as JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms for production planning, purchasing, scheduling, or material tracking activities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate schedules, materials, inventory, and customer demand in a manufacturing or supply chain environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and respond appropriately to changing business priorities
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- APICS CPIM certification or progress toward certification
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, pivot tables, and lookup functions
- Experience supporting purchasing and supplier coordination activities
