Job summary

MMT is seeking a Production Planner in Saint George, Utah to develop and maintain production schedules for Machine Shop and Assembly operations. You will coordinate with Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Sales to anticipate constraints and keep customer commitments.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing scheduling, materials planning, operations, or a related manufacturing role.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, with Epicor or Dynamics 365 Business Central strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production schedules for Machine Shop and Assembly operations based on customer orders, sales forecasts, available capacity, and production priorities.
• Plan and schedule workloads across manufacturing work centers to support on-time completion of customer orders.
• Review and release planned production orders, verifying BOM accuracy, material availability, routing, and capacity before release.
• Monitor production progress and identify scheduling risks, capacity constraints, material shortages, and bottlenecks.
• Adjust schedules and priorities when production conditions change to minimize delays and maintain customer commitments.
• Analyze production specifications, plant capacity, manufacturing processes, tooling requirements, and resource needs to support planning.
• Review routings and manufacturing sequences for assembly, installation, machining, and other operations.
• Create production orders, post materials, and close completed jobs within ERP.
• Analyze bills of material, technical specifications, drawings, scopes, and documentation to develop production plans.
• Communicate production status, priorities, risks, and schedule changes to stakeholders.
• Prepare production output reports and present planning updates during weekly Production Meetings.
• Participate in weekly Sales and Operations reviews to discuss upcoming demand and plant stock.
• Expedite operations to address delays and keep critical projects moving.
• Collaborate across departments to improve planning processes and execution.

MMT is looking for a Production Planner to join our manufacturing team in St. George, Utah. This is a hands‑on planning role for someone who enjoys solving problems, coordinating across teams, and making sure materials, capacity, and production schedules come together to meet customer commitments.

Our St. George operation specializes in automation, machine design, material handling, and custom tooling. As our Production Planner, you will play an important role in keeping our Machine Shop and Assembly operations on schedule. You will work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Sales to anticipate constraints, address bottlenecks, and keep manufacturing priorities aligned with customer demand.

What You’ll Do

Preferred Qualifications Include

• 1–3 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing scheduling, materials planning, operations, or a related manufacturing role.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems. Experience with Epicor or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is strongly preferred.
• Understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, work centers, routings, BOMs, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical, schematic, and assembly drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify issues before they impact production.
• Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, quality, and follow‑through.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, and other cross‑functional teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems and technology.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based in an office environment within our St. George, Utah manufacturing facility, with regular interaction with production operations. Occasional travel may be required between MMT facilities, including locations in Utah and California, as well as customer, vendor, or other MMT locations.

The position primarily involves working at a computer for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required to support production or inventory activities.
