Targetti USA is seeking a Production Planner to develop and maintain production schedules that align demand with material and capacity. The role partners with production, warehouse, inventory, and sales teams to coordinate work orders and manage ESDs using ERP/MRP data.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years in planning, experience with ERP/MRP (SAP preferred), and a strong grasp of BOMs, capacity planning, and material availability.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that align customer demand, material availability, and production capacity to ensure on-time delivery. This role partners with production, warehouse, inventory, and sales teams to coordinate work orders, maintain accurate Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs), monitor material availability, and support efficient production operations through effective planning and ERP/MRP data management.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Planning & Scheduling

• Develop, analyze, and maintain daily and weekly production schedules within the ERP/MRP planning system, balancing customer demand, material availability, capacity constraints, and delivery commitments.
• Review system-generated planning recommendations and take appropriate action to support production flow and on-time delivery performance.
• Prioritize production priorities and sequence work orders to meet customer delivery commitments and operational requirements.
• Coordinate with production teams to ensure work is completed according to schedule.
• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules in response to changing priorities, capacity limitations, material shortages, or other constraints.
• Identify production bottlenecks, capacity issues, and scheduling risks and recommend corrective actions.

Estimated Ship Date (ESD) Management

• Calculate production, quality inspection, and packing timelines to establish accurate Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs).
• Review ERP/MRP material requirements, inventory availability, capacity, and lead times to determine achievable delivery dates.
• Develop contingency plans for production delays, supplier lead-time changes, material shortages, or capacity constraints.
• Maintain accurate ESDs within the ERP/MRP system by continuously monitoring material availability, production capacity, and schedule adherence.
• Proactively communicate ESD changes, risks, and schedule updates to Sales, Customer Service, and other internal stakeholders.

Sales Order & Work Order Management

• Calculate production, quality inspection, and packing timelines to establish accurate Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs).
• Maintain accurate Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs) within the ERP/MRP system by monitoring material availability, production capacity, and schedule adherence.
• Release and track sample orders to support customer and sales requirements.
• Investigate and correct improperly processed or closed work orders to maintain system and inventory accuracy.
• Review ERP/MRP material requirements and inventory availability to ensure components are available to support scheduled production.
• Develop contingency plans for production delays, including changes in supplier lead times or material availability.
• Communicate ESD updates and schedule changes to Sales, Customer Service, and other internal stakeholders.

Materials Management & Production Support

• Utilize ERP/MRP planning outputs to identify material shortages, excess inventory, and supply risks that may impact production schedules or customer commitments.
• Collaborate with purchasing and inventory teams to resolve system-generated material exceptions and maintain schedule continuity.
• Support efficient material flow to minimize production interruptions.
• Assist with maintaining inventory accuracy by identifying planning or material issues affecting production.

ERP/MRP Planning System Management & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain and optimize ERP/MRP planning parameters, including lead times, planning policies, safety stock levels, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Generate and analyze ERP/MRP planning reports to evaluate capacity utilization, schedule attainment, inventory performance, and delivery metrics.
• Monitor production schedules, work order status, inventory levels, and planning metrics to support on-time delivery.
• Analyze production and inventory data to identify trends and improve planning accuracy.
• Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, production flow, and operational efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.

Ad Hoc & Cross-Functional Support

• Perform additional tasks as needed to support purchasing, logistics, and production workflows.

SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE

• Effectively leveraging the ERP/MRP planning system to manage production schedules, capacity constraints, material availability, and customer delivery commitments.
• Maintaining accurate planning, inventory, and work order data that supports reliable production execution.
• Maintaining reliable Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs) through proactive planning and communication.
• Ensuring production has the materials needed to meet schedule requirements.
• Identifying scheduling conflicts and production bottlenecks before they impact delivery.
• Supporting inventory accuracy and efficient production flow through effective planning and coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, operations, or a related role.
• Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment preferred.
• Demonstrated experience using ERP/MRP planning systems (SAP preferred) to create and maintain production schedules, manage capacity, review material requirements, release work orders, and support customer delivery commitments.
• Strong understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), capacity planning, inventory planning, and production control principles within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
• Ability to analyze production schedules, material requirements, inventory levels, and production capacity to support on-time delivery.
• Ability to interpret Bills of Material (BOMs), production routings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across production, warehouse, inventory, sales, and operations teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while adapting to changing business needs.
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is a plus but not required.

• Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and education, as this role is open to a range of skill levels.
