Job summary

Targetti USA is seeking a Production Planner to develop and maintain production schedules, align demand with material availability, and optimize ERP/MRP data. This on-site role in Costa Mesa, CA collaborates with production, warehouse, inventory, and sales to ensure on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's in a related field and 3–5 years of production planning experience, with SAP or similar ERP/MRP experience and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, operations, or a related role.
• Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment preferred.
• Experience using ERP/MRP planning systems (SAP preferred) to create and maintain production schedules.
• Strong knowledge of MRP, capacity planning, inventory planning, and production control.
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
• Ability to interpret BOMs, production routings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across production, warehouse, inventory, sales, and operations teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, analyze, and maintain daily and weekly production schedules within the ERP/MRP planning system.
• Review system-generated planning recommendations and take action to support production flow and on-time delivery.
• Prioritize production orders to meet customer delivery commitments.
• Coordinate with production teams to ensure work is completed according to schedule.
• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed.
• Identify production bottlenecks and recommend schedule adjustments to maintain workflow and on-time delivery.

• Review ERP/MRP material requirements and inventory availability to support scheduled production.
• Develop contingency plans for production delays, including supplier lead times or material availability.
• Maintain accurate ESDs within the ERP/MRP system and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Monitor and release work orders to ensure timely processing and delivery performance.
• Maintain planning system integrity with up-to-date work orders, routing, and scheduling.
• Release and track sample orders to support customer and sales requirements.
• Correct or reopen improperly closed work orders to maintain accuracy.
• Support inventory accuracy and material flow through planning.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that align customer demand, material availability, and production capacity to ensure on-time delivery. This role partners with production, warehouse, inventory, and sales teams to coordinate work orders, maintain accurate Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs), monitor material availability, and support efficient production operations through effective planning and ERP/MRP data management.

This is a full-time, on-site position. Candidates must be able to commute to and work from our Costa Mesa, CA office Monday through Friday.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Production Planning & Scheduling

Develop, analyze, and maintain daily and weekly production schedules within the ERP/MRP planning system, balancing customer demand, material availability, capacity constraints, and delivery commitments.

Review system-generated planning recommendations and take appropriate action to support production flow and on-time delivery performance.

Prioritize production orders to meet customer delivery commitments.

Coordinate with production teams to ensure work is completed according to schedule.

Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address changing priorities or material constraints.

Identify production bottlenecks and recommend schedule adjustments to maintain workflow and on-time delivery.

Estimated Ship Date (ESD) Management

Calculate production, quality inspection, and packing timelines to establish accurate Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs).

Review ERP/MRP material requirements and inventory availability to ensure components are available to support scheduled production.

Develop contingency plans for production delays, including changes in supplier lead times or material availability.

Maintain accurate Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs) within the ERP/MRP system by monitoring material availability, production capacity, and schedule adherence.

Communicate ESD updates and schedule changes to Sales, Customer Service, and other internal stakeholders.

Sales Order & Work Order Management

Monitor, release, and manage production work orders within the ERP/MRP system to ensure accurate scheduling, timely processing, and delivery performance.

Maintain planning system integrity by ensuring work order, routing, and scheduling information is accurate and up to date.

Release and track sample orders to support customer and sales requirements.

Correct or reopen improperly closed work orders as needed to maintain system accuracy.

Ensure work orders are prioritized appropriately to support production goals and customer commitments.

Material Planning & Production Support

Utilize ERP/MRP planning outputs to identify material shortages, excess inventory, and supply risks that may impact production schedules or customer commitments.

Collaborate with purchasing and inventory teams to resolve system-generated material exceptions and maintain schedule continuity.

Support efficient material flow to minimize production interruptions.

Assist with maintaining inventory accuracy by identifying planning or material issues affecting production.

ERP/MRP Planning System Management & Continuous Improvement

Maintain and optimize ERP/MRP planning parameters, including lead times, planning policies, safety stock levels, and Bills of Material (BOMs).

Generate and analyze ERP/MRP planning reports to evaluate capacity utilization, schedule attainment, inventory performance, and delivery metrics.

Monitor production schedules, work order status, inventory levels, and planning metrics to support on-time delivery.

Analyze production and inventory data to identify trends and improve planning accuracy.

Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, production flow, and operational efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.

Ad Hoc & Cross-Functional Support:

Perform additional tasks as needed to support purchasing, logistics, and production workflows.

SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE

Effectively leveraging the ERP/MRP planning system to manage production schedules, capacity constraints, material availability, and customer delivery commitments.

Maintaining accurate planning, inventory, and work order data that supports reliable production execution.

Maintaining reliable Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs) through proactive planning and communication.

Ensuring production has the materials needed to meet schedule requirements.

Identifying scheduling conflicts and production bottlenecks before they impact delivery.

Supporting inventory accuracy and efficient production flow through effective planning and coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, operations, or a related role.

Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment preferred.

Demonstrated experience using ERP/MRP planning systems (SAP preferred) to create and maintain production schedules, manage capacity, review material requirements, release work orders, and support customer delivery commitments.

Strong understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), capacity planning, inventory planning, and production control principles within a manufacturing environment.

APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is preferred. Candidates who have obtained, are currently pursuing, or are willing to pursue certification will be given favorable consideration.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.

Ability to analyze production schedules, material requirements, inventory levels, and production capacity to support on-time delivery.

Ability to interpret Bills of Material (BOMs), production routings, and manufacturing documentation.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across production, warehouse, inventory, sales, and operations teams.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while adapting to changing business needs.
