Job Summary

The Production Planner will be based in Coopersville, MI, reporting to the Logistics Manager. This Production Planner coordinates activities involved with procuring direct materials, components, and equipment.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Maintaining relations with suppliers.
  • Placing orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to production requirements.
  • Receiving and handling order confirmations.
  • Checking and modifying purchase orders based on changes in the production plan, utilizing tools like the Shortage List and Open Purchase Order List.
  • Tracking shipments and following up as needed.
  • Conducting regular weekly stock checks to avoid overstocking.
  • Minimizing obsolescence risks through weekly obsolete report reviews.
  • Communicating with freight forwarders, warehouses, and organizing transportation when necessary.
  • Handling claims and settling debit and credit issues.
  • Filing and recording all necessary procurement documents.
  • Verifying inventory levels of critical materials and addressing discrepancies with warehouse personnel.
  • Managing purchasing data privacy.
  • Ensuring timely availability of active components at the right price for production needs.
  • Reviewing requisitions and MRP outputs.
  • Consulting with vendors regarding product information such as pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Ordering, rescheduling, and canceling materials based on requisitions and MRP outputs.
  • Maintaining procurement records of items purchased, costs, delivery, and inventories.
  • Managing supplier relationships to meet price, delivery, and quality expectations; escalating issues when necessary.
  • Approving invoices for payment.
  • Investigating inventory levels.
  • Monitoring material movement through the production cycle.
  • Conducting quarterly supplier reviews.
  • Maintaining procurement reports and metrics.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrates basic people and process management skills.
  • Previous experience in automotive, manufacturing, or electronics sectors.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Preferably, SMT/PCBA experience.
