Job Summary

The Production Planner will be based in Coopersville, MI, reporting to the Logistics Manager. This Production Planner coordinates activities involved with procuring direct materials, components, and equipment.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Maintaining relations with suppliers.
  • Placing orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to the production requirements.
  • Receiving and handling confirmations.
  • Checking purchase orders and modifying them based on changes in the production plan using the Shortage List and the Open Purchase Order List.
  • Tracking shipments and urging delivery if needed.
  • Conducting regular weekly stock checks to avoid overstocking.
  • Minimizing obsolescence risk through weekly obsolete report reviews.
  • Communicating with freight forwarders, warehouses, and organizing transportation as needed.
  • Handling claims, and settling debit and credit issues.
  • Filing and recording all necessary documents.
  • Checking inventory of critical materials according to the Shortage List, including personal verification if needed.
  • Collaborating with warehouse personnel to address inventory discrepancies.
  • Managing purchasing data privacy.
  • Ensuring all active components meet production needs and are available at the right time and price.
  • Reviewing requisitions and MRP output.
  • Consulting with vendors regarding product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Ordering, rescheduling, and canceling materials based on requisitions and MRP output.
  • Maintaining procurement records including items purchased, costs, delivery, and inventories.
  • Managing supplier relationships to meet price, delivery, and quality expectations, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Approving invoices for payment.
  • Investigating inventory levels.
  • Monitoring the movement of materials through the production cycle.
  • Conducting quarterly supplier reviews.
  • Maintaining procurement records, reports, and metrics.
The experience we're looking to add to our team
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrates basic people and/or process management skills.
  • Previous experience in automotive, manufacturing, or electronics industries.
  • Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • SMT/PCBA experience (preferred).
