Job summary

Airgas in Oakland, CA is seeking an Operator - Production II to safely manage filling gas products into cylinders and oversee related warehouse tasks. The role requires operating forklifts, monitoring equipment, and adhering to DOT, FDA, OSHA standards.

The position offers $25-$27/hour, plus a pay-for-performance bonus and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and paid time off. HS diploma and 1 year of related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of prior experience in related manufacturing operation; filling or loading experience preferred
• Strong background in gas, welding, and safety supply industry or chemical industry preferred
• Ability to complete training and achieve certifications for filling all cryogenic liquids and pure industrial gases.
• Ability to complete FDA, Food Grade, and CGMP Training and achieve certifications
• Must be able to operate forklift and maintain appropriate forklift certifications.

Responsibilities

• Support various operations in the plant, including monitoring equipment to fill industrial gas mixes, cryogenic gases, and medical gas products.
• Inspect cylinders prior to filling, following government, Airgas, and distributor standards.
• Conduct safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests and cap/valve checks.
• Evaluate products for purity and correct mixtures.
• Manage care of high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders.
• Prepare high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling.
• Attach to the manifold and ensure removal of contaminants.
• Fill cylinders by pressure and weight per regulations and standards.
• Assist with loading/unloading of cylinders on/off pallets and trailers.
• Operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
• Maintain records to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards; complete QC sheets.
