Job summary

Pures Food Specialties LLC is seeking a packaging operator for our Illinois facility. The role involves operating and monitoring packaging machinery, setting up and adjusting equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety, GMP, and allergen controls.

Ideal candidates will read and follow recipes, troubleshoot process issues within the recipe, and maintain accurate documentation while working 80% standing and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor packaging equipment to ensure safe, efficient production.
• Follow Food Safety policies and GMP/allergen procedures.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and accurate lot/documentation.
• Follow FIFO, batch numbers, and label bins with correct lot numbers.
• Support shift team and respond to supervisor directions.

Description:

A packaging operator is a professional who works in manufacturing or industrial settings, operating and monitoring machinery to produce goods. They are responsible for setting up, adjusting, maintaining, and troubleshooting the equipment to ensure efficient and safe production and must have the ability to work in a safe manner, follow safety guidelines.

• Understand and follow Food Safety policies.
• Must be willing to work flexible schedules and work in other departments including weekends and holidays
• Ability to read and understand recipes.
• Ability to troubleshoot process related issues within the boundaries of the recipe
• Ability to use digital scales and have a working knowledge of scale functions.
• Ability to mix doughs according to recipe. Have a working knowledge of the mixer, using the time and batch recipe system
• Follow FIFO (First in First Out), Mix lot number and documentation accuracy.
• Clean & Refill ingredient bins and label the bins with the correct lot number.
• Ability to work in a standing position for entire shift and climb steps and ladders.
• Monitors and assists with equipment upstream/downstream to ensure continuous operation.
• Ability to clean mixers, work areas properly during and after production runs or changeovers
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
• Observe all plant safety, GMP and allergen procedures and attend appropriate training sessions
• Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements
• Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your supervisor
• Follow supervisor’s directives and be able to support the shift team as needed
