Job Summary

Overview of Responsibilities (Powders Department)

The Powders Production Operator reports to the Senior Team Lead and will be responsible for compounding solid and liquid flavors by weighing, blending, mixing, sifting/milling, and packing chemicals according to instructions, steps, and information on shop floor papers. The Flavor Production Worker will also be responsible for filling flavors as per the instructions on the shop floor paper. The duties of the Powders Production Operator include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining a safe working environment, utilizing appropriate safety equipment and PPE, and proactively improving the safety culture of the department.
  • Keeping the processing area and equipment clean, sanitary, and presentable; adhering to GMP and food safety and HACCP programs.
  • Using sound technical skills to accurately weigh liquids and powders on an analytical balance.
  • Following detailed instructions for flavor compounding.
  • Backflushing raw materials used from inventory in systems including SAP and IFFMan after finishing compounding.
  • Filling flavor samples and finished goods containers according to paperwork and recording in the inventory system.
  • Printing and applying labels on stock containers, QC samples, and shipping samples.
  • Replenishing inventory as necessary.
  • Participating in cross-training programs, including but not limited to Rototherm/Extrusion Operations.
  • Working as part of a team to solve problems, develop procedures, recommend improvements, and assist other departments as needed.

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math, reading, and computer skills; ability to read English.
  • Focus on safety and quality.
  • Ability to use a scale with 0.001 grams accuracy and weigh small amounts of material accurately.
  • Understanding and use of the metric system, including weight conversions.
  • Ability to follow directions and understand Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and other mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to lift containers up to 25 kg and handle drums up to 200 kg and bags up to 50 kg.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-odor, team-oriented environment.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, on 2nd shift (3:30 pm - 11:50 pm) and 3rd shift (11:30 pm - 7:50 am), including early, late, and Saturday overtime.

Required Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in chemical process manufacturing, preferably in a food manufacturing plant.
  • Powders compounding experience preferred.
  • SAP and IFFMan experience is a plus.
