Job summary

GAF Materials Corp. is seeking a Production Operator to ensure the manufacture of high-quality residential roofing materials through hands-on machine operation, quality checks, packaging, and forklift duties.

This role requires 12-hour shifts (7am–7pm or 7pm–7am), ability to work weekends/holidays/overtime, and a focus on safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with manufacturing concepts and safety practices preferred but not required.
  • Positive attitude, teamwork mindset, and willingness to contribute to a continuous improvement environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment and forklifts safely, troubleshoot issues, and maintain equipment.
  • Record data on the computer or in written form to ensure quality and traceability.
  • Follow safety, operational, maintenance, and housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Complete product testing and inspections; alert supervisor to variations in the production process.
  • Perform additional duties related to plant operations as assigned.

Schedule

12‑hour shift (7am–7pm or 7pm–7am). Must be available to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Summary

The Production Operator ensures the production of high‑quality residential roofing materials through accurate, timely, and efficient manufacturing processes, including machine operation, quality verification, packaging, housekeeping, and forklift operation.

Essential Duties
  • Operate manufacturing equipment and forklifts safely, troubleshoot issues, and maintain equipment.
  • Produce and/or ship quality products while recording all required data on the computer or in written form.
  • Follow all safety, operational, maintenance, and housekeeping policies and procedures for the plant and assigned department.
  • Complete product testing and inspections in accordance with product and quality specifications; alert supervisor to any variations in the production process.
  • Perform additional duties related to plant operations as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with manufacturing concepts and safety practices is preferred but not required.
  • Positive attitude, teamwork mindset, and willingness to contribute to a continuous improvement environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship.
Physical Demands
  • Stand for long periods, climb ladders, stairs, and catwalks, bend at knees and waist.
  • Regularly lift or move up to 25lb. (occasionally up to 50lb. or more with assistance).
  • Push and pull objects, push carts, and other equipment.
  • Hear alarm bells and communicate on radio/walkie‑talkies.
  • Use color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and hand‑and‑finger use for handling objects, tools, controls, panels, and products.
  • Wear and use required safety equipment (safety glasses, steel‑toe safety shoes, hearing protection, head protection, gloves).
Compensation

Base hourly rate: $28.29. Compensation offers are determined by geography, experience, education, and qualifications.
