Job summary

You will be responsible for operating 1500‑ton injection molding machines, safely loading/unloading materials, and maintaining operational records. A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with two years of manufacturing or military experience.

The compensation starts at $25.59 per hour with a wide range of benefits including health insurance and 401(k) matching.

Job Summary

GAF is looking for Machine Operators responsible for producing high quality commercial and residential roofing products at the Cumming, GA plant. The ideal candidate thrives in a production environment where safety, quality, service, and cost are the highest priorities. The Machine Operator will perform various rotating duties relating to all manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties
  • Operation of equipment in a safe manner to prevent damage to equipment and injuries.
  • Wearing all specified safety and health protective equipment and following all safety rules.
  • Running one or more 1500‑ton injection molding machines and resolving downstream automation faults.
  • Safely loading/unloading material using an electric pallet jack.
  • Inspecting parts according to quality procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate operational records as directed.
  • Participating as a member of the production team during downtime, start‑up, product changes, operational problems, clean‑up, and training.
  • Housekeeping in assigned area(s).
  • Working any 12‑hour shift of a rotating shift schedule, including overtime and some weekends.
  • Performing any other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Two (2) years of manufacturing or military experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
  • Application of common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Problem‑solving involving a few physical variables in everyday situations.

Preferred

  • Strong mechanical skills, maintenance‑related experience, and/or injection molding experience.
Physical Demands

Stationary, constant movement, lifting, pushing, pulling, ascending/descending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, grasping, communicating, hearing, repetitive motions, coordination, and working conditions include extreme cold, extreme heat, humidity, wet conditions, noise, hazards, vibration, and occasionally temperature or atmospheric changes.

Compensation

Base Hourly Rate: $25.59 (exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses). Individual compensation offers will be determined based on location, experience, education, and qualifications.
