Job summary

Goodman Manufacturing is seeking a Production Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will lift, load, transfer parts, and operate assembly line equipment to build quality products for internal and external customers.

You should be capable of repetitive tasks, using hand tools and basic machines, while adhering to safety policies and company instructions. Prior experience is helpful, but training is provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Entry-level manufacturing/machine operations experience a plus.
  • Must follow safety policies and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Lift, load, hang, and transfer parts safely and efficiently.
  • Assemble/install materials on lines or workstations per specs.
  • Operate machines to form, paint, and assemble parts as directed.
  • Identify and report defects to prevent quality issues.
  • Maintain clean, organized work area and proper PPE.

Job description

The Production Operator responsibilities may include lifting, loading, transferring of product/materials, operating machines, fabricating/painting and assembling materials, parts, and goods on assembly lines, or designated workstations. May use hand tools, wires, etc. to produce and deliver a quality product in a safe and timely manner for internal and external customers. Performs work to ensure timely delivery of quality products for internal and external customers. Eliminates scrap and additional costs using zero-defects methods. Follows safety policies, housekeeping, company policies, and work instructions.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lift, load, hang, and/or transfer parts and products repetitively while ensuring and maintaining safe work practices
  • Assemble/install materials, parts, and equipment on assembly lines or designated workstations accurately and thoroughly to approved specifications
  • Potential tasks may include, but are not limited to: Shooting screws, putting lids on boxes, scanning inventory, installing wires, compressors, tops, panels, and other general assembly tasks
  • May operate machines to form, fabricate, paint, and assemble parts
  • Ensure all parts and materials used match the bill of material
  • Identify and eliminate scrap and additional costs using zero-defect methods
  • Work in a safe manner following the safety policies, housekeeping, and environmental policies and work instructions
  • Inform supervisors of any part or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem
  • Ensure work is meeting quality standards
  • Conserve resources and supplies to facilitate minimum waste
  • Always wear and use required personal protective equipment
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow and comply with all safety and health regulation

Nature & Scope:

  • Takes direction from lead and works within well-defined instructions while meeting established objectives

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to perform duties while working safely, efficiently, and timely; ensuring high-quality work meets production requirements and company standards with limited supervision
  • Mechanical/Machinery skills are a plus
  • Ability to safely operate air and hand tools, wrenches, screwdrivers, ratchets, and screw guns
  • Ability to safely operate machines and equipment
  • Attention to detail and basic math/counting skills
  • Ability to interpret and follow work instructions including all safety policies
  • Ability to pass in-house training program (including safety & skills training and on-the-job training)
  • Ability to get along well, communicate timely and accurately with co-workers, supervisors and team leads
  • Ability to perform physical labor and repetitive movement and have good hand-eye coordination
  • Physical stamina and strength required; transferring, loading, unloading, and lifting parts for long periods
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time; 8-10 hours a day
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including hours and days as needed

Competency:

Experience:

  • Entry level, previous manufacturing/machine operations experience is a plus

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED
