Job Description

Here at MKC, we are leaders in high pressure die casting and precision machining for automotive and recreational markets. With a proud 125-year history, we are seeking Production Operators (Die Cast or Machining) at our Sun Prairie, WI location.

Position Summary

The General Production role involves performing secondary operations on aluminum castings, such as trimming, inspecting, deburring, packing, and machining in a synchronized manufacturing environment. Cross-training across all operations is expected, while meeting production, safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

Essential Functions

• Operate trim presses, sand, drill, file, or knife castings (Die Cast) or CNC machines, multi-station machine centers, drill presses (Machining).
• Conduct quality checks using gauges, precision measuring devices, and visual inspection, and document findings where applicable.
• Perform safety checks to ensure safety devices are operational, including understanding Lock-Out Tag Out procedures.
• Handle parts manually from work-in-process to shipping containers, using pallet jacks or walkie-talkies as needed.
• Pack parts according to instructions, apply labels to meet customer requirements.
• Maintain accurate records such as route sheets and count sheets.
• Follow operator and setup instructions, and notify supervisors of any updates or corrections needed.
• Keep the work environment safe, clean, and organized.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks like lubricating, changing filters, cleaning, and checking fluid levels.
• Assist as a trainer when necessary and perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

The position involves working in a heavy production environment with high noise and heat levels. Exposure to moving machine parts is common during troubleshooting. Work hours are a minimum of 40 hours per week, with possible overtime on weekdays and weekends. Typical shifts are Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:00 pm; 3:00 pm–11:00 pm; or Sunday night–Friday morning.

Physical Demands

Physical exertion includes occasional lifting up to 40 pounds, prolonged standing, and repetitive tasks requiring bending, lifting, reaching, and twisting. Visual acuity is necessary for quality inspections.

Qualifications
