Carpenter Technology Corporation is seeking a fabrication line operator to tend forming and resizing machines for coil and bar products, including pre-straighteners and centerless grinders. The role requires closely following job tickets and maintaining quality and safety standards.

The operator will adjust machines, inspect workpieces, and coordinate with prior shift personnel to ensure a smooth transition between shifts and adherence to customer specifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Responsabilités

• Reads and implements order requirements from the work ticket.
• Consults with previous shift operators to assure smooth shift transitions and determine machine adjustments.
• Set rollers and guides as specified by job requirements.
• Monitor machine operation with emphasis on safety and quality.
• Measure work piece dimensions and adjust settings to meet specs.
• Ensure correct setup for changes in size and replace worn parts as needed.
• Change chip buckets and straightener rollers for each grade processed.

SUMMARY

Tends fabricating machines that form and resize coil and bar such as pre-straighteners, peelers, straighteners, saws, sanders, eddy current machines, centerless grinders, and performs in-line inspection operations to assure customer specifications and quality standards by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to housekeeping, cross training and operator level maintenance in support of equipment operation. Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to specific training and safety rules.

1. Reads and implements order requirements that are described on the work ticket.
2. Consults with previous shift operators to assure a smooth transition from shift to shift. Examples include determining machine adjustments and material requirements for jobs that will be run.
3. Set rollers and guides as specified by job requirements.
4. Observes machine operation throughout the line or work area with particular attention being made to safety, detection of work piece defects and machine operation.
5. Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and makes subsequent adjustments as required to achieve proper dimensions and surface condition.
6. When changes to a size occurs the operator checks and ensures that uncoilers, pre-straighteners, peelers, straighteners, grinders saws, and/or sander/polishers are set up properly for the new job. The operator replaces parts and makes adjustments as necessary.
7. Ensures that chip buckets are changed-out with each new grade-type that is processed.
8. Changes straightener rollers as required.
