Job summary

Reliance, Inc. in Cartersville, GA is seeking a diligent Machine Operator Assistant to help process material according to job shop orders and customer requirements.

You will support the Machine Operator with setup, assist personnel, and coordinate coil staging with crane operators. The role requires safe work practices, the ability to read shop orders, inspect coils, measure dimensions, and operate or assist with equipment such as slitter heads and recoilers.

Responsibilities

• Safely process material per shop orders and customer requirements.
• Assist with setup and coordinate coil staging with crane operators.
• Assist with documentation including shop orders and inspection sheets.
• Use measuring tools and production equipment as needed (tape measure, vernier, micrometer, etc.).
• Back-up with setup and start of jobs by reviewing shop orders and preplanning work.
• Back-up to operate and monitor equipment, check tolerances and alignment.
• Run material to completion per shop orders and help with break, tape and offloading.
• Communicate with crane operators to prevent line backup and ensure continuous production.
• Maintain clean and organized work area and good housekeeping practices.

Job Summary

The Machine Operator Assistant is responsible for assisting of processing material according to job shop orders and customer requirements, while help the Machine Operator on direct setup and helper personnel and coordinating coil staging with crane operators.

Job Function

• Always work safely while processing material per shop orders and customer requirements
• Assit with setup and helper personnel as needed and coordinate coil staging with crane operators
• Assit with all required documentation, including shop orders, Slitter shift reports, and inspection sheets
• Use required tools and equipment, including measuring instruments (tape measure, vernier, micrometer) and production equipment (uncoiler, slitter head, crop shear, recoiler, tension stand, and related systems)
• Back-up with Set up and start jobs by:
  • Reviewing shop orders and verifying coil information
  • Preplanning work and ensuring materials and personnel are ready
  • Inspecting coils for damage, rust, and proper specifications
  • Measuring and recording coil width and notifying CSR if out of spec
• Back-up to operate and monitor equipment throughout the process, including:
  • Feeding material through equipment and adjusting components
  • Inspecting surface defects and verifying tolerances
  • Monitoring alignment, tension, and buildup on recoiler
  • Recording measurements and notifying CSR of issues
• Run material to completion per shop order requirements, assist team members as needed, and perform break, tape, and offloading functions
• Communicate with crane operators to prevent line backup and ensure continuous production flow
• Maintain clean and organized work area and ensure good housekeeping practices
