Job summary

General Mills in Cincinnati seeks a General Production Operator to support packaging and processing operations across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. Starting pay is $26.43–$29.97 per hour, with tiered wages through year 3 up to $33.30 hourly. A 75-day probation applies; overtime can push earnings well above base pay.

• Ability to climb and/or work at heights using stairs, ladders, or platforms.
• Must follow safety, quality, and grooming standards.
• Must wear PPE such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard cap, hair/beard net, gloves, and masks when required.
• Ability to work around high-speed machinery and food allergens.
• Forklift certification and operation are required.

Responsibilities

• Support packaging and processing operations.
• Participate in equipment startup, changeovers, and shutdowns.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and partner with Maintenance.
• Calibrate systems to meet required specifications.
• Perform quality and safety checks.
• Clean and sanitize production equipment and work areas.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in training new employees.
• Assist other plant areas as assigned.

POSITION OVERVIEW

• General Production Operator
• Starting Pay: $2643 -$29.97 per hour
• Tiered wages through first 3 years,up to $33.30 after 3 years
• 75-day probationary period
  • Time and half payfor all hours worked over 8 hours
  • Time and half payfor all hours worked on Saturdays
  • Double time payfor all hours worked on Sundays
• Shift differential
  • Additional $.35 per hour for hours worked on 2nd shift
  • Additions $.41 per hour for hours worked on 3rd shift
• Production operators who work full time may make $75,000+ in a year, inclusive of overtime.Overtime availability depends upon seniority, shift, job qualifications and business needs.

Your Work Schedule and Shift Information

• 8-hour shift
  • 1st shift: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • 2nd shift: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm
  • 3rd shift: 11:00 pm to 7:00 am
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends and holidays
• Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As part of our manufacturing team, you will:

• Support packaging and processing operations
• Participate in equipment startup, changeovers, and shutdowns
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and partner with Maintenance
• Calibrate systems to meet required specifications
• Perform quality and safety checks
• Clean and sanitize production equipment and work areas
• Participates in continuous improvement initiatives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years of manufacturing or production experience
• Must possess the ability to understand and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others in the workplace regarding work matters (our business is generally conducted in English)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, and twist for extended periods
• Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions
• Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
• Ability to follow human and food safety, quality, and grooming standards
• Ability to wear such as protective clothing and equipment (Personal Protective Equipment -PPE) such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard/bump cap, hair/beard net, gloves, and face masks (when required)
• Ability to work around high-speed machinery and food allergens
• All employees must go through a forklift certification course and are required to drive a forklift
