Job summary

Checkr’s ML Engineer (P2) role sits on the ML team within the Data & ML organization. You will own ML services end-to-end: design, code, deploy, monitor, and test production AI systems powering Checkr’s core products.

Based in San Francisco, you will partner with Product and Engineering, apply LLMs and APIs, optimize cost and latency, and ship AI-powered workflows to improve speed, accuracy, and scalability of background checks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, Math, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years professional software development; >=2 years ML in production.
• Strong Python fluency; write clean, well-structured code.
• Hands-on experience with production LLM APIs (prompting, function calling, evaluation).

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy ML/AI services used by product teams.
• Design with LLMs and APIs; balance cost, latency, quality.
• Ship production software with robust testing and CI/CD.
• Partner with product and engineering; define API contracts.
• Evaluate models quickly; run experiments and iterate.
• Develop AI-powered workflows and agentic processes.
