Logistics, Production/Materials Assistant II
Location: Texas City, Texas
Reporting to: Logistics Administrative Supervisor
Responsibilities
- Schedule product shipping based on product availability, manpower, plant schedules, and customer requirements for order allocations.
- Coordinate raw material procurement in advance to ensure requirements are staged and ready to meet production plans.
- Raise concerns for potential material shortages to operations and supervision.
- Work directly with vendors and Ashland procurement to resolve problems and determine alternate sourcing options.
- Actively work on the Traffic Desk rotation, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Understand, abide by, and stay current on DOT regulations and procedures.
- Contact carrier representatives to schedule shipping arrangements and issue shipping instructions.
- Track product quality release and communicate progress through production, quality assurance testing, and booking.
- Process reclassifications required for special requests.
- Provide timely, accurate, and thorough tracking of on‑time shipping performance, delinquent order trends, and other service‑related metrics.
- Serve as backup support for departmental staff as needed.
- Facilitate shipping of finished goods from the manufacturing plant to the storage warehouse, track and reconcile movements and inventory after unload, and coordinate with Quality Assurance on product release for shipment to customers.
- Assist with inventory accuracy investigations as requested.
- Conduct monthly cycle counts of inventory.
- Order shipping supplies/materials and packaging supplies as needed.
- Coordinate drum requests from the Warehouse and process samples for outside testing, customer requests, and QA requests.
- Coordinate rail switching, tracing, unloading slip write‑up, and processing in SAP.
- Perform departmental related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective operation.
- Electronically scan and file all documents as per records retention requirements and guidelines.
- Actively contribute to organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety.
- Improve the organization’s capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent, and utilizing positive communications and influence with others.
