Job summary

BMG, a leading thermoforming packaging/automation solutions provider, seeks a Production Manager for its Knoxville site. You will lead Operations, Quality, Production Planning, and Project Management teams to deliver safe, high-quality, on-time production with a focus on Lean improvements.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in industrial manufacturing, 4+ years in leadership of 25+ people, and strong Lean implementation experience, plus hands-on strategic/tactical balance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive industrial manufacturing experience.
• Minimum of 4+ years of leadership experience with direct responsibility for teams of 25+ people.
• Formal Lean training and demonstrated success implementing Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining, and design for manufacturability.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on approach balancing strategic and tactical responsibilities.
• Must be eligible to work legally in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for Operations, Quality, Production Planning, and Project Management functions.
• Oversee day-to-day production to ensure safe, high-quality, on-time, and cost-effective delivery.
• Manage production scheduling, capacity planning, and resource allocation to meet customer demands.
• Lead continuous improvement and Lean initiatives across all areas to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Directly supervise, mentor, and develop managers, engineers, and staff.
• Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and P&L performance for operations.
• Manage production costs including labor, materials, and overhead.
• Work with Engineering on manufacturability, NPI, and design reviews.
• Oversee machine shop, equipment utilization, and maintenance programs.
• Ensure inventory control, procurement coordination, and material flow.
