Lead a High-Performing Manufacturing Operation

Are you a hands‑on manufacturing leader who knows how to motivate teams, improve production performance, and drive results?

Our client is seeking a Production Manager to lead a large aluminum die casting manufacturing department in a fast‑paced, high‑volume production environment in Morristown, Tennessee. This is a highly visible leadership role with responsibility for approximately 100 employees and overall performance across safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Most importantly, our client is looking for a strong manufacturing leader with the ability to lead people, analyze performance, solve problems, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, aluminum die casting experience is not required.

What You’ll Do

As Production Manager, you will provide leadership and direction for the entire manufacturing department while ensuring the team consistently meets production, quality, safety, and efficiency objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead, manage, and develop a manufacturing team of approximately 100 employees
• Drive department performance against production targets, efficiency goals, quality objectives, and operational KPIs
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives
• Standardize best practices across production value streams, including manpower organization, production layouts, 5S, equipment maintenance, and quality adherence
• Develop annual manufacturing business plans covering KPIs, labor requirements, and overhead expenses
• Analyze production data, line results, shift performance, and other operational metrics to identify trends, bottlenecks, and underperforming areas
• Use data-driven problem solving and root cause analysis to develop and implement effective short and long term countermeasures
• Clearly communicate issues, improvement plans, results, and recommendations using data, charts, graphs, presentations, and strong verbal communication
• Partner with the Quality department to establish and achieve goals related to scrap reduction, non-conforming product, and customer complaints
• Work closely with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance to improve equipment uptime, reliability, and overall production performance
• Provide leadership in achieving company safety and environmental objectives and ensure effective implementation of the Environmental Management System
• Identify employee training and development needs and ensure team members receive appropriate coaching and development
• Establish clear expectations, maintain open communication, and facilitate effective problem resolution between leaders and team members
• Administer company policies fairly and consistently
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a strong, energetic manufacturing leader who can effectively lead a large team and drive measurable operational improvements.

You should bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Production Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible manufacturing experience
• 5+ years of related manufacturing experience and demonstrated progression in responsibility
• 3+ years of supervisory or management experience preferred
• Experience leading large manufacturing teams
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing supervision and production operations
• Experience with Lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement tools
• Strong problem‑solving skills and experience using statistical, root cause, and other problem solving methodologies
• Ability to understand and work with sophisticated manufacturing equipment, software, mechanical blueprints, electrical diagrams, cutting tools, and production control systems
• Understanding of quality assurance systems and manufacturing quality requirements
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong coaching, training, motivational, and team building abilities
• High energy, initiative, and the ability to lead effectively in a demanding production environment
• Ability to remain calm and effective when dealing with stress, emergencies, and rapidly changing priorities
• Willingness and ability to work overtime and weekends when required
• Ability to travel approximately 10-20% of the time
