Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced SMT Production Manager to oversee and manage the daily operations of our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production lines. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal productivity, quality, and efficiency in electronic assembly operations while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of SMT processes, leadership skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage SMT Production Operations:
  • Oversee daily SMT production activities including scheduling, staffing, and output targets.
  • Ensure on-time production delivery while meeting quality and efficiency goals.
  • Monitor machine performance and line utilization; coordinate preventive maintenance and equipment calibration.
  • Process & Quality Control:
  • Drive continuous improvement in SMT processes using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Implement and maintain IPC-A-610 and other relevant quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to investigate and resolve process deviations and non-conformities.
  • Supervise and develop SMT production team including operators, technicians, and line leads.
  • Provide training and coaching to ensure high team performance and compliance with safety and work procedures.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support employee development initiatives.
  • Reporting & Communication:
  • Maintain and report production metrics such as yield, throughput, downtime, and scrap rate.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to support NPI (New Product Introduction) and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively across departments to resolve production issues and support company goals.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in SMT production, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Hands-on experience with SMT equipment (e.g., pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, AOI, SPI, X-ray).
  • Strong knowledge of SMT process flow, soldering technologies, and electronic manufacturing best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP/MES systems.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
