Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations in the Washington, DC area.

You will drive safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement while meeting production goals in a fast-paced food and beverage environment. Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Food Science, Manufacturing, Business, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience in roles such as Production Manager or Operations Manager.
• Experience managing hourly manufacturing employees and front-line supervisors.
• Strong understanding of production planning, inventory control, labor management, and key operational metrics.
• Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management

• Lead day-to-day production activities to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives are achieved.


• Manage production schedules and staffing plans to meet customer demand and operational requirements.


• Monitor key production metrics including throughput, yield, waste, downtime, labor efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).


• Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams to optimize plant performance.


• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Leadership & Team Development

• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for supervisors and production personnel.


• Build a culture focused on accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and employee development.


• Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and succession planning activities.


• Promote employee engagement and foster a positive work environment.

Food Safety & Quality

• Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.


• Support and maintain HACCP, FSMA, GMP, SQF, BRC, USDA, FDA, and other applicable programs.


• Collaborate with Quality Assurance to investigate and resolve quality issues and customer complaints.


• Drive a culture of food safety and quality excellence throughout the production organization.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.


• Analyze production data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.


• Implement process optimization projects that improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.


• Support capital projects and equipment installations as needed.

Safety & Compliance

• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.


• Conduct safety observations, risk assessments, and corrective action activities.


• Investigate incidents and implement preventative measures to minimize workplace injuries.

Qualifications:

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Food Science, Manufacturing, Business, or related field preferred.


• 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience in a Production Manager, Operations Manager, Production Supervisor, or similar role.


• Experience managing hourly manufacturing employees and front-line supervisors.


• Strong understanding of production planning, inventory control, labor management, and operational metrics.


• Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.


• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

• Food, beverage, bakery, dairy, frozen food, ingredient, pet food, or CPG manufacturing experience.


• Experience with HACCP, FSMA, GMP, SQF, BRC, USDA, or FDA-regulated environments.


• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement experience.


• Multi-shift leadership experience.


• Experience managing facilities with 50+ employees.
