About Us
LGS Precast is a growing precast concrete manufacturer serving commercial and industrial construction projects across Texas. We are expanding our prestressed production capability and are looking for an experienced leader to run that side of the plant. This is a hands‑on role with real ownership: you will build the team, the process, and the quality record for our prestress line.
Position Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for the safe, on‑time, and on‑spec production of all prestressed precast products, including hollow‑core planks, double tees, beams, girders. You will manage the prestress crews, the production schedule, and the day‑to‑day quality program, and you will work directly with engineering, the yard, and shipping to get product from the bed to the jobsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and run daily production on the prestressing beds, including strand layout, tensioning, stressing, pours, curing, stripping, and detensioning.
- Build and maintain the production schedule to meet project delivery dates, balancing bed availability, crew capacity, and release strength requirements.
- Lead, train, and evaluate the prestress crew, including strand and stressing operators, form setters, finishers, and laborers.
- Own the quality program: elongation and force verification, camber and dimensional checks, concrete testing, and complete, audit‑ready production records.
- Maintain PCI plant certification requirements and prepare the plant for certification audits.
- Enforce safety practices around stressed strand, lifting, and heavy equipment; lead toolbox talks and investigate incidents and near misses.
- Review shop drawings and production sheets with engineering and resolve fit, sequencing, and design questions before product is cast.
- Coordinate with the yard, shipping, and project management on storage, load‑out, and delivery sequencing.
- Manage materials and consumables, including strand, chucks, bearing pads, embeds, and concrete mix inputs, and coordinate with vendors.
- Oversee equipment readiness for stressing jacks, forms, cranes, and batching, and schedule preventive maintenance.
- Track labor, material, and production metrics, and recommend improvements to cost, throughput, and quality.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in precast or prestressed concrete production, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Hands‑on knowledge of prestressing operations: strand tensioning, elongation calculations, release procedures, and camber behavior.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, production sheets, and mix designs.
- Proven record of leading crews and maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working with engineering, quality, sales, and ownership.
- Ability to work on the plant floor and in outdoor yard conditions, and to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with long‑line bed production such as hollow‑core, double tees, or bridge girders.
- PCI Plant Quality Personnel certification (Level II or higher), or willingness to obtain it within 6–12 months of hire.
- Experience preparing for and passing PCI plant certification audits.
- Familiarity with production scheduling software or ERP systems used in precast manufacturing.
Work Schedule
Full‑time, primarily day shift, Monday–Friday, with occasional early starts, late pours, or Saturday work during peak production. Schedules are set around cast and release cycles.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $35-45 per hour
- Performance bonus tied to safety, quality, and on‑time delivery
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid time off and standard holidays
