Position Overview
Majesty Brands is seeking a Production Manager, Apparel to lead the execution of apparel production following the completion of product development. This position owns the production process from the Product Development handoff and purchase order placement through final shipment and delivery.
The Production Manager is responsible for production planning, factory and vendor communication, production WIP and time-and-action management, material readiness, pre-production approvals, testing, inspections, quality execution, shipment tracking, and delivery performance. This role ensures that all orders are produced according to approved specifications, costs, quality standards, customer requirements, and delivery commitments.
The Production Manager will manage and develop the Production Associate, Apparel, and work closely with Product Development, Design, Sales, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Sourcing, and Logistics.
This is a production-execution role. It does not own product concepts, assortment strategy, creative development, or the Product Development process. Instead, it ensures that approved products transition successfully into bulk production and are delivered accurately, on time, and according to customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a smooth Product Development-to-Production handoff, confirming that all costing, specifications, samples, approvals, packaging, labeling, testing, and customer requirements are complete and production-ready before bulk production begins.
- Own production from purchase order placement through final shipment and delivery, ensuring all orders meet required timing, quality, cost, and customer requirements.
- Manage, train, and oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the Production Associate, Apparel, establishing clear priorities and ensuring accurate and timely execution.
- Work directly with overseas factories and vendors on production schedules, material readiness, capacity, pre-production approvals, testing, inspections, quality requirements, corrective actions, and shipment status.
- Maintain and manage Production WIP reports and time-and-action calendars with the team, closely tracking critical milestones and proactively identifying delays and risks.
- Confirm that fabrics, trims, components, packaging, and other production materials are ordered, approved, and available according to the required production timeline.
- Manage pre-production and top-of-production approvals, including production samples, packaging, labeling, testing, and other customer-specific requirements.
- Proactively identify production, quality, testing, or delivery issues and drive factories and vendors to provide immediate corrective-action plans.
- Maintain clear and proactive communication with Design and Sales throughout the production cycle, providing timely updates on status, changes, risks, and issues that may affect customer commitments.
- Partner closely with Product Development, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Sourcing, and Logistics to ensure approvals, priorities, shipment plans, and delivery requirements are aligned.
- Partner with Technical Design and Quality Assurance to resolve production-related fit, construction, measurement, workmanship, and specification issues.
- Review production tech packs and approved product specifications to ensure factories are working from complete, accurate, and current information.
- Confirm that purchase order details, costs, quantities, size breakdowns, delivery dates, shipping requirements, and production records are accurate and aligned across internal systems and factory documentation.
- Monitor bulk production quality and ensure all required product testing, inspections, and approvals are completed according to company and customer standards.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance and factories on failed tests, inspection findings, quality concerns, and corrective-action requirements.
- Resolve production, quality, testing, packaging, shipment, and delivery issues with factories and internal business partners.
- Monitor factory performance against production, quality, compliance, communication, and delivery expectations.
- Provide clear and accurate production status and exception reporting, escalating critical issues before they affect delivery or customer commitments.
- Lead weekly production WIP meetings and provide leadership with accurate updates regarding production status, outstanding approvals, delivery risks, and corrective actions.
- Support factory allocation and placement decisions based on capability, capacity, quality performance, cost, lead time, and delivery requirements.
- Maintain accurate production records and ensure all key information is organized, current, and easily accessible to the team.
- Ensure factories comply with approved product specifications, packaging instructions, testing protocols, shipping requirements, and customer standards.
- Continuously improve production processes to create better visibility, stronger accountability, more effective communication, and more efficient execution.
Experience & Skills
- Five to seven years of apparel production experience, preferably including intimates, sleepwear, loungewear, or related apparel categories.
- Demonstrated experience managing bulk apparel production from purchase order placement through final shipment and delivery.
- Strong experience working directly with overseas factories, vendors, testing laboratories, and inspection providers.
- Experience managing production WIP reports, time-and-action calendars, production schedules, approvals, testing, inspections, and shipment tracking.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, materials, packaging, production processes, quality standards, and apparel manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of apparel costing and the ability to identify production-related cost risks, discrepancies, and opportunities.
- Experience managing and developing at least one direct report.
- Ability to evaluate production readiness and identify missing approvals, specifications, materials, testing, packaging, or customer requirements before bulk production begins.
- Proven ability to identify production risks, resolve issues, obtain corrective-action plans, and elevate critical concerns appropriately.
- Strong ability to manage multiple production calendars, priorities, factories, and customer delivery requirements simultaneously.
- Exceptional organization, attention to detail, communication, problem-solving, and follow-through.
- Ability to communicate production status and risks clearly to internal leadership and cross-functional business partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator for reviewing or completing production-related tech pack revisions is preferred.
- Intimates, sleepwear, or loungewear production experience is strongly preferred.
