Production Manager YJM Apparel Group Inc. | New York, NY | Full-Time | On-Site

About YJM Apparel Group YJM Apparel Group Inc. is a New York-based apparel company operating across Mens divisions, managing production and distribution relationships with factory partners and major retail accounts. We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Production Manager to join our team and help drive operational excellence across our supply chain.

Position Overview The Production Manager will be responsible for end-to-end oversight of the production process — from initial purchase order issuance through factory execution, quality control, and final delivery. This role requires close coordination with overseas manufacturing partners, internal logistics and merchandising teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-budget, and on-spec delivery of product across multiple divisions.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

  • Manage the full production calendar across multiple factory partners, ensuring alignment with seasonal buy plans and customer delivery windows
  • Issue, track, and follow up on purchase orders through every stage of production
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) reports and proactively flag at-risk orders
  • Coordinate fabric, trim, and material sourcing timelines with factories to avoid production delays
  • Serve as the primary liaison with overseas factories on production status, capacity planning, and issue resolution
  • Negotiate production costs, minimums, and lead times in partnership with sourcing and merchandising teams
  • Evaluate factory performance and support onboarding of new manufacturing partners as needed
  • Ensure factories adhere to compliance, labor, and quality standards

Quality & Compliance

  • Oversee quality control processes and inspections at key production milestones
  • Manage resolution of quality issues, including negotiating chargebacks or debits with factories when applicable
  • Ensure all production complies with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements

Logistics & Delivery

  • Partner with logistics and shipping teams to ensure timely container bookings and on-time delivery to distribution centers and retail partners
  • Track past-due and at-risk shipments, escalating issues and driving resolution
  • Reconcile production data against shipping and invoicing records to confirm accuracy

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with sales, merchandising, and logistics teams to align production capacity with customer demand
  • Prepare and present regular production status reports, KPIs, and past-due analyses to leadership
  • Support financial reporting by providing accurate production cost and timeline data

Requirements

Experience & Education

  • 8+ years of experience in production management within the apparel, fashion, or textile industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience considered)

  • Experience managing production for both wholesale and off-price retail channels a plus

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of ERP or production tracking systems (e.g., QuickBooks, WMS platforms)
  • Strong understanding of costing terms including FOB, LDP, and DDP
  • Familiarity with international shipping, customs, and logistics processes

Core Competencies

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple production lines simultaneously
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Sharp attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy under deadline pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate and resolve production risks proactively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with off-price retail, or department store account production requirements
