Position Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end production process, from raw material procurement to finished goods. This role ensures optimal manufacturing efficiency, adherence to quality control standards, and cost-effective operations while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has a strong background in cosmetic or fragrance manufacturing, supply chain management, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Management

●Develop and oversee the master production schedule, ensuring alignment with demand forecasts, inventory levels, and sales projections.

●Monitor and optimize batch production, blending, filling, and packaging processes for efficiency and quality.

●Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow and reduce waste.

●Collaborate with R&D and product development teams to ensure smooth transitions for new product launches.

Quality Control & Compliance

●Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), FDA, and IFRA regulations to ensure product integrity and safety.

●Implement and oversee Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for production processes.

●Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to conduct regular inspections, testing, and documentation of production batches.

●Address non-conformance issues, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans.

Supply Chain & Inventory Management

●Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to maintain optimal stock levels of raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods.

●Monitor and manage supplier relationships, ensuring on-time deliveries and cost-effective sourcing.

●Implement inventory tracking systems to minimize overages, shortages, and production downtime.

●Optimize warehouse operations for efficient storage, retrieval, and FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.

Operational Efficiency & Cost Control

●Track and analyze production costs, labor efficiency, and resource utilization to drive cost-saving initiatives.

●Work with finance teams to prepare and manage the production budget, ensuring cost controls and expense forecasting.

●Evaluate and recommend automation and technology upgrades to improve production capabilities.

●Lead efficiency-driven projects that enhance productivity and minimize bottlenecks.

●Oversee production staff, including blending technicians, machine operators, and warehouse personnel.

●Develop training programs to enhance employee skills, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety regulations.

●Establish KPIs for production teams, tracking performance, setting goals, and conducting evaluations.

●Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the production facility.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

●Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and workplace safety standards.

●Implement hazardous materials handling protocols, particularly for alcohol-based fragrances and VOC (volatile organic compound) compliance.

●Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency preparedness training.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

●Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

●5+ years of experience in production management, preferably in fragrance, beauty, cosmetics, or consumer goods manufacturing.

●Strong background in manufacturing process optimization, supply chain logistics, and cost management.

●Proficiency in ERP/MRP software (NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle), production scheduling tools, and inventory management systems.

●Understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and process improvement strategies.

●Experience with automated production lines, blending equipment, and packaging machinery.

●Ability to analyze production data, identify inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
