Position Overview
The Production Manager is responsible for the overall leadership of production operations, including safety, quality, staffing, performance management, continuous improvement, and operational execution.
Packaging manufacturing experience is highly preferred, particularly within plastic packaging, injection molding, thermoforming, extrusion, or related manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop production supervisors and manufacturing teams across a multi-shift operation.
- Drive safety initiatives and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Establish and achieve performance targets related to quality, productivity, delivery, and cost.
- Manage hiring, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and employee development.
- Develop departmental budgets and manage operating and capital expenditures.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives.
- Partner with maintenance, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve plant performance.
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve operational results.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Ideal Background
- 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
- Experience leading large hourly production teams through front-line supervisors.
- Strong operational leadership experience within plastics manufacturing or packaging environments.
- Experience in plastic packaging, injection molding, thermoforming, extrusion, or related processes strongly preferred.
- Proven success improving safety, quality, labor productivity, and operational performance.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Strong people leadership, coaching, and change management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
