Job summary

Crayola is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to ensure reliable machine performance in a high-volume manufacturing environment in Easton, PA. The role focuses on upkeep, repair, troubleshooting, and overhaul of electromechanical equipment, with input on new equipment selection and implementation.

Responsibilities include PM/DM, CMMS tracking, capital projects support, operator training, and strict adherence to safety and waste regulations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in maintenance of electromechanical equipment in high-volume manufacturing.
  • High school diploma or GED; technical associate degree preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and components.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on processing and packaging equipment.
  • Perform Demand Maintenance (DM) as needed to address downtime, quality or safety issues.
  • Track time and parts in CMMS and request replacements; manage spare parts stock.
  • Participate in capital projects for new equipment and modifications.
  • Train operators on maintenance, cleaning, and setup of equipment.
  • Communicate performance issues across shifts in written and verbal form.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area; comply with safety regulations.
  • May train other mechanics or apprentices on assigned jobs.
  • Follow Hazardous Waste regulations and Crayola procedures for spills/leaks.
  • Work scheduled production weekends and overtime as needed.

6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Alternating 4 Day / 3 Day Schedule

GENERAL SUMMARY

Proper maintenance of manufacturing equipment is essential to be able to deliver reliable production performance. This position is the primary contributor of reliable machine performance to achieve Manufacturing objectives. They achieve that through the upkeep, repair, troubleshooting, and overhaul of existing electromechanical equipment. Their accumulated knowledge is also critical for input on the selection, implementation, and adoption of new equipment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) on a wide variety of production equipment including processing and packaging equipment. Plan and schedule PM tasks to align with production availability.
  • Performs Demand Maintenance (DM), as needed, in response to unexpected downtime, material deviations, quality issues, or safety concerns.
  • Using CMMS, tracks time and parts used per individual maintenance task. Responsible for requesting purchase of replacement parts and recommending stock levels of spare parts.
  • Actively participates in the development and installation of capital projects for the introduction of new equipment and redesign of existing equipment. Provides input for the design of machine modifications and implements approved machine modifications.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives through participation of cross-functional teams and ongoing training of machine operators on the effective use, basic preventative maintenance, cleaning, and setup of equipment.
  • Effectively communicates performance issues to the appropriate group(s) regarding equipment, processes, and materials across shifts using verbal and/or written electronic communication.
  • Maintains equipment and work area in a clean well-cared for manner.
  • May lead and train other mechanics and/or apprentice mechanics on assigned jobs.
  • Complies with federal and state Hazardous Waste regulations including proper handling, storing, and labeling of chemicals and has familiarity with Crayola's Emergency Action Procedure in the event of a spill or leak.
  • Must work scheduled production weekends and overtime, as needed. May be asked to work unscheduled production weekends to execute PMs and provide production coverage.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • High School or GED Degree required; Technical Associate’s Degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in the maintenance of electromechanical equipment, with emphasis in high volume manufacturing preferred or successful completion of the Crayola’s Technical Apprenticeship program – 1 st tier.
  • Working knowledge in (3) or more of the following areas preferred: systematic troubleshooting, low- to high-speed packaging, industrial robots, plumbing, metal fabrication, industrial electricity, industrial control systems, and equipment rigging.
  • Possess the ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems of a simple nature that would enable identification of faulty components such as; motors, fuses, heaters, limit switches, electric motor clutches, brakes, etc.
  • Fluent in English language, both written and verbal.
