Job summary

SIGMA DESIGN in Hood River, OR is seeking a Production Machining Supervisor to lead CNC programming, tooling, and maintenance across the machining departments. You will partner with Engineering and Quality to drive efficient, high-precision aerospace component production in a full-time role.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years CAD/CNC programming experience, strong GD&T skills, and a proven leadership track record in a shop environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in CAD and CNC programming.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and aerospace requirements.
• Experience with AS9100 environments desirable.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Production Machining Supervisor (Direct Placement for Client)

SIGMA DESIGN has collaborated with a global company seeking an experienced Production Machining Supervisor to join their facility in Hood River, OR. This company has been operating for nearly 30 years and is a leading producer in the Aviation and Aerospace Component Manufacturing space. Primary Function

The Production Machining Supervisor will report directly to the Production Manager and work directly with the Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to facilitate and manage value leading machining solutions for our business. Managing, oversight, and direction of CNC production staff, programs, tooling, equipment, and maintenance associated with tooling and trim machining.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities

• Support production management to ensure production goals and deadlines are being met.
• Champion excellence in CNC machining.

• Promote an inclusive and involved culture.
• Manage the staff and corresponding business functions within the CNC machining department(s).
• CNC programming and review for the tooling and trim divisions within the department.
• Drive schedule and efficiencies within the machining department.
• Work closely with Engineering to review designs for efficiency, capability, and manufacturability.
• Communicate foreseen hurdles and roadblocks with production management and propose solutions.
• Lead/participate in interdepartmental meetings as needed, focusing on understanding and team buy-in.
• Liaison between engineering and machining.
• Drive continuous improvement in designs and processes for which you are responsible.
• Work with subordinates to design solutions for departmental success.
• Continually communicate machining capabilities and solutions with team members to facilitate improved functionality and cost-effective solutions.
• Participation and support with project schedules, timelines, and execution.
• Identify needed skillsets and/or knowledge requirements within our machining team and propose actions or opportunities to elevate team potential.
• Manage the logistical movement of products to and from the manufacturing facility.
• Plan organize and execute the moving of our manufacturing facilities and equipment to another location.
• Propose improvements (budget, ROI, lead time, expected outcomes) for tools, workflows, or other items that make us more effective.
• Maintenance of machining facility, equipment, tooling, and software.
• Manage, mentor, support and elevate the team members within your area of responsibility.
• Continually evaluate and champion best practices within CNC machining for improved quality and increased yield.
• Develop best methods and practices based on current or industry standards.
• Document, train, and implement best practices.
• Establish programming, and program documentation standards.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

• Great team player with good inter-personal skills and work ethic.
• Must be a self-starter, self-managed, an effective team player and possess excellent analytical/problem solving skills.
• 5+ years’ experience in CAD and CNC Programming.
• Strong ability to interpret technical package interpretation.
• Strong understanding of GD&T. (Advanced on the job training can be provided.)
• Understanding of composites processes and materials, aerospace product requirements and AS9100 environments.
• Strong use of office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) experience required.
• Eligible candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, a person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or otherwise eligible U.S. person.

Work Environment

SHOP: Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
