Job summary

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is seeking an Associate Director of Production to oversee stage crew and technical operations for BSO and JMSH events, ensuring production aligns with artistic vision while staying within budget.

The role reports to the SVP & COO and involves managing lighting, sound, and rentals, plus coordinating with multiple departments to deliver top-quality performances and events.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years stage/production management experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and spoken communication.
  • Experience with labor union practices and labor relations.
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, contracts, lighting, rigging, sound.
  • Knowledge of classical music and symphonic repertoire.
  • Evening and weekend work required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise stage crew for BSO and JMSH events, ensuring safety and timely completion.
  • Develop and maintain stage crew schedules per IATSE agreement.
  • Lead technical setup for lighting, sound, video and rentals.
  • Advance shows with artists and road managers.
  • Lead weekly production meetings.
  • Lead stagehand budget and production budget development.
  • Coordinate equipment rentals, transportation, and vendor deliveries.
  • Oversee recording projects and livestreams.
