We are seeking a Production Lead II to be based in our Pembroke, NC Facility.
The Lead II reports to the department supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation of a production and packaging line, continuously monitoring line performance, quality, and safety to ensure standards are met.
- Provide basic direction, training, and coaching to line workers and operators.
- Assist in maintenance functions of the line(s) as detailed below.
- Ensure all employees in the production line follow all formulas, build sheets, and documentation of lots, batches, and waste logs are correct.
- Operate all the equipment within the assigned area, report any defects, and train workers on equipment use.
- Plan and assign daily tasks, verify completion of tasks and related documentation.
- Assign and follow-up with employees to ensure completion of assigned work in setup and sanitation.
- Set up equipment and troubleshoot adjustments to keep products within standard and the line running at or above required performance.
- Perform routine line maintenance and troubleshooting tasks within the Lead II’s approved list of activities.
- Perform Lockout/Tagout and other energy isolation procedures as necessary.
- Maintain hygiene standards of the equipment and facility, consistent with GMP standards.
- Train new and existing employees within the department.
- Effectively communicate with other departments to achieve organizational results.
- Work with Production Supervisors to ensure daily planning is followed efficiently.
- Work with QA team to ensure food safety standards are followed.
- Coordinate the completion of Master Cleaning Schedule supporting staff on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure all daily shift paperwork is kept in order and completed accurately.
- Ensure all production activities are efficient and changeovers are smooth and on schedule.
- Help minimize material and time waste.
- Achieve shift targets for productivity, quality, and hygiene/sanitation.
- Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Day to Day
Operation of Production and/or Packaging Lines
Manage workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment.
- Manage line flow to ensure timely achievement of daily production goals.
- Troubleshoot line performance issues and work closely with the maintenance team to resolve issues.
Leadership, Supervision, and Individual & Team Development
- Provide line employees with opportunities to cross-train and develop skill sets.
- Provide functional training to new employees according to standards.
Assist in Maintenance Functions
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and the source of product defects.
- Use tools to make routine repairs and adjustments.
- Assist in Preventative Maintenance tasks when lines are down.
Compliance with Regulatory, Company and Industry Best Practice Operating and Safety Requirements
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing employees on the use of control points, equipment, and resources.
- Monitor & maintain employee, equipment, and facility compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
What You Bring to the Team
- Must have already successfully performed in a Production Lead role for at least 6 months.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to communicate in English and write correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Flexibility to work various and extended hours and shifts.
- Demonstrated strong supervision and teamwork.
