The Production Lead I position is the process owner of a single line or area in production/packaging. This individual has the skills and experience to manage a production line with all the processes involved. This individual needs to ensure the correct flow of the production process, according with the product specifications and the internal SOPs, making sure all the necessary materials are available for the line prior starting a new product. This position is accountable for the manufacturing KPIs in the line: Materials yield (fresh produce, ingredients, and packaging), line efficiency, product quality (including food safety) and personnel safety.
Requirements
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred with food manufacturing desirable.
- +5 years in a manufacturing environment with increasing roles of responsibility
- HCCP Certified & Yellow belt Certification preferred.
- Proficient reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent reading and writing communication.
- Basic math knowledge.
- Understanding of manufacturing safety, food safety, food plant GMPs and requirements
- Participate and recommend solutions to common quality & food safety issues.
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills
- Able to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Reliable mode of transportation
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
Summary
- Suggest improvement projects to optimize operations and improve productivity to meet and exceed manufacturing goals.
- Ensure the product manufacturing process is completed according to the product manufacturing specification and SOPs.
- Ensure that the production lines are properly and timely set up to run scheduled production.
- Assign job duties for workers on the line.
- Set clear expectations for line employees. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds team members accountable. Keep a high level of motivation in in line personnel.
- Responsible for validating that paperwork is properly filed and quality of the process path is followed.
- Ensure material availability to run daily production. Control materials usage during the shift
- Coordinate with the Production Supervisor any employee situation, workforce planning, schedules, any issue about employee performance, absence, and other.
- Provide mentoring and training to Line personnel (Quality, Safety, basic preventive maintenance activities)
- Adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced.
- Ensure all areas of responsibility are clean and in safe working conditions.
- Participate in Process Improvement activities.
- Participate in team forums, huddles, escalation sessions, and safety & training sessions (Kaizen Events, Gemba Walks, Safety Committee).
- Follow Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) safety standards.
- Understand and maintain high standards of tidiness and organization in line with good 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practice.
- Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures.
- Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisor.
