Job summary

Carolina Herrera is offering an internship program in New York. You will work closely with the Production Department, learning through hands-on tasks and cross-department collaboration in a small-company setting.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student.
  • Interest in fashion manufacturing and production.
  • Ability to read patterns and basic sewing knowledge a plus.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Make swatches, and apply them to cut tickets for contractors to follow.
  • Prepare samples for upcoming fittings (steaming, measuring as needed).
  • Shadow Production Department with all department activities focusing on trim packages, shipments, and factory communications.
  • Participate in creating and maintaining patternmaker style sheets.
  • Research and source materials, trims, fabric, etc. for seasonal needs.
  • Support with factory pick-up and drop offs around the garment district.
  • Support atelier with transferring samples to/from PR.
  • Prepare swatches and BOM updates for atelier patternmakers.
  • Assist Managers in maintaining an organized and clutter-free studio.

What you'll get to do

  • Make swatches, and apply them to cut tickets for contractors to follow
  • Prepare samples for upcoming fittings (steaming, measuring as needed)
  • Shadow Production Department with all department related activities specifically focusing on creating trim packages (including counting buttons, folding sticker piles, rolling content label ribbon), preparing shipments, and factory communications regarding duplicates.
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of patternmaker style sheets.
  • Research and source materials, trims, fabric, etc based on the seasonal collection needs.
  • Support with factory pick-up and drop offs around the garment district.
  • Support atelier with transferring samples to/from PR.
  • Prepare swatches and BOM updates for atelier patternmakers
  • Assist Managers in maintaining an organized and clutter free studio.

  • Organizational skills
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Excellent ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understands how to read patterns, basic hand sewing and machine sewing is a plus
  • Must be a current student
  • Knowledge of woven and knitwear garment construction (or strong desire to learn).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PLM database a plus
  • Knowledge of fabric and fabric types
  • Knowledge of the garment district
