Responsibilities

  • Manage daily design communication on seasonal linesheet under the Head Designer.
  • Coordinate with external freelancers on design flats with accurate details.
  • Maintain seasonal design boards and linesheets with designers and sketchers.
  • Own the design dept timeline to meet milestones and deadlines.
  • Conduct seasonal research and silhouette studies with the Head Designer.
  • Assist in creating Tech Packs and CADs.
  • Oversee development for non-Italy manufacturing; manage proto, SMS, VIP, etc.
  • Manage seasonal budget and studio resources.
  • Coordinate atelier needs: supplies, equipment, meals, transport.
  • Oversee tracking and shipping of design/development packages.
  • Organize seasonal design room and prepare presentation boards.

Job description

The Design/Studio Coordinator must thrive in a fast-paced environment, driven by teamwork and collaborative innovation. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and motivational skills. The Design/Studio Coordinator will work closely with the Head Designer to oversee and execute collection needs (RTW, capsules, special projects), while ensuring overall development operations are facilitated to cross functional teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Design/Execution –
  • Manage daily design communication regarding changes to the seasonal linesheet, working closely under the guidance of the Head Designer.
  • Coordinate with external freelancers on design flats to ensure all technical details are accurately communicated and finalized.
  • Maintain and update all seasonal design boards and linesheets, collaborating with internal designers and external sketchers.
  • Take ownership of the design department's timeline, ensuring all products and seasonal concepts meet key milestones and deadlines.
  • Conduct seasonal research and silhouette studies in collaboration with the Head Designer.
  • Assist in the creation and setup of (Tech Packs) and (CADs), assisting the Head Designer.
  • Overseeing all development for non- Italy manufacturing, while communicating needs internally to ensure on time completion (includes Proto, SMS, VIP, Special projects, Press, Small production runs) -- Pattern procurement; Handoff; Fabric/Lining/Trim Acquiring; Management of production
  • Manage seasonal budget and resource needs for the design studio, especially during peak periods.
  • Coordinate seasonal needs for the atelier, such as supplies, equipment rentals, meals, and transportation.
  • Oversee the tracking and shipping of design and development packages.
  • Organize the seasonal design room and prepare presentation boards for RTW and other categories
Archive Management
  • Maintain and organize the Gabriela Hearst trim archive.
  • Manage the in-house pattern archive, including seasonal updates.
Qualifications
  • Background in design, comfortable with sewing mockups and draping a plus
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in a design environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency of Adobe Suite; Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow through
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
