Job summary

Rainmaker is hiring a Software Engineer to own our production infrastructure and security. Your scope includes cloud infrastructure, deployments, observability, identity and access, secrets, vulnerability management, incident response, and recovery.

You will build remote systems that work 24/7 and accommodate lost comms. You will collaborate with software, science, aircraft engineering, and field operations to ship reliable systems.

Qualifications

• A software engineer with experience building production infrastructure.
• Fast, thoughtful, autonomous, and opinionated.
• Willing to relocate to El Segundo, CA.
• Built and operated production systems. We care more about what you have shipped than your degree or years in the industry.
• Deep familiarity with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Pulumi or Terraform.
• Managed secrets and credential lifecycles in a fast-moving environment.
• Designed or maintained zero-trust, WireGuard-based networks; we run almost everything on Tailscale.

Responsibilities

• Own production infrastructure end to end, setting the standards for how services get deployed, monitored, and recovered.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and test infrastructure for rapid agentic development.
• Balance rigor and security with the need for engineers to move quickly.
• Work across software, science, aircraft engineering, and field operations.
