Job summary

JBS Prepared Foods in Swanton, VT is seeking Hourly Production Workers to help ensure safe, high-quality meat products are produced on schedule. Earn up to $23.35 per hour with weekly pay in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires handling knives, operating heavy equipment, lifting 50+ pounds, and following strict food-safety protocols. Work 1st shift (Mon–Thu 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), with possible OT on Fridays and some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in cold environments (near freezing) and damp conditions.
• Ability to lift/pull/push 50 lbs.
• Experience handling sharp knives or cutting tools.
• Willingness to work overtime when needed.
• Willing to work day shift and Saturdays occasionally.

• Keep the knife sharp: develop good knife sharpening skills.
• Operate heavy equipment.
• Bag and box products.
• Must use proper personal protective equipment effectively.

• Must keep work areas clean and follow proper food safety protocols.
• Inspect meat or meat products and/or packaging.
• Stay aware of your surroundings and notify a supervisor if you recognize a hazard.
• Other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: Up to $2 3 . 35 / hour, paid weekly

Schedule: 1st Shift, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, possible OT on Friday

Scope Of Position:

Hourly Production Workers are the backbone of our Company. They play a key role in ensuring that our products are consistently manufactured safely and the specifications of our customers. They are responsible for completing mandatory safety training applicable to their specific job assignments, completing all required Food Safety/GMP training courses and assisting with product reconditioning as needed or directed.

As an organization, we do our best to ensure that our Hourly Production workers can master their assigned roles before moving on to other positions within the facility, but that is not always possible. Ideal candidates for these positions must be agile and willing to shift focus and energies as the business demand changes.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Work regularly in temperatures near or below freezing (Coolers, Loading Dock Freezer)
• Work in damp or cold conditions (20-30 Degrees-Fabrication)
• Work in areas that require you to lift, pull, or push 50 lbs.
• Work with sharp knives or a cutting tool
• Willing and capable of working overtime when necessary
• Available to workday shift
• Willing and capable of working Saturdays occasionally

LIFTING/ PUSHING/PULLING – 10 lbs. -50 lbs. production

NEUTRAL WRIST- Repetitive hand motions and grasping.

REACHING– Reaching for product on the conveyor belt with hooks, reaching for boxes, or bags

STANDING– Constant standing for 8 to 10 hours per day, 4 days a week (Loading dock 7 days as needed per schedule.) (2 allowed breaks are scheduled based on the operational requirements.)

• Production and maintenance settings
• Exposure to various chemicals, machinery, and knives
• Slippery floors, cold temperatures, and loud ambient noise
• Ability to work 50+hours.
