Job summary

JBS USA in Elkhart, IN seeks an Hourly Material Handling associate responsible for shipping/receiving operations, equipment handling, and maintaining safety standards on a heavy-loading production line.

Role requires standing 8-10 hours, lifting 50+ lbs, and willingness to work day/night shifts including Saturdays. The position emphasizes safety compliance and teamwork within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Temperatures near or below freezing (coolers, loading dock freezer).
• Work in damp or cold conditions (20-30 degrees).
• Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Willingness to work overtime and Saturdays when required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the effective and timely completion of all shipping and receiving functions.
• Ensures all shipping and receiving functions are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Operate heavy equipment.
• Load and unload trailers.
• Establish and maintain good communication with company personnel and vendors.
• Completes and maintains shipping related paperwork accurately.
• Complete all shipping and receiving documentation per customer and company policies.
• Use proper personal protective equipment.
• Work hands-on at safe speeds and times to lift over 50 pounds.
• Keep work areas clean and follow food safety protocols.
• Inspect inbound and outbound packaging.
• Stay aware of surroundings and notify a supervisor of hazards.
• Other duties as assigned.

ScopeOfPosition:

Hourly Production Workers are the backbone of our Company. They perform a key role with ensuring that our products are consistently manufactured safely and the specifications of our customers. They are responsible for completing mandatory safety trainings applicable to their specific job assignments, complete all required Food Safety/GMP trainings and assist with product reconditioning as needed or directed.

As an organization, we do our best to ensure that our Hourly Production workers are able to master their assigned roles before moving on to other positions within the facility, but that is not always possible. Ideal candidates for these positions must be agile and willing to shift focus and energies as the business demand changes.

Responsibilities

• Must keep work areas clean and follow proper food safety protocols.
• Inspect inbound and outbound and/or packaging.
• Stay aware of your surroundings and notify a supervisor if you recognize a hazard.

LIFTING/ PUSHING/PULLING– 10 lbs. -50 lbs. production

NEUTRAL WRIST– Repetitive hand motions and grasping.

REACHING– Reaching for product on the conveyor belt with hooks, reaching for boxes, or bags

STANDING– Constant standing for 8 to 10 hours per day, 6 days a week (Loading dock 7 days as needed per schedule.) (2 allowed breaks are scheduled based on the union contract and operational requirements.)
