Job summary

JBS Foods in Omaha, Nebraska, is seeking a General Production team member to support the harvest floor operations. You will assist with unloading and segregating live animals, humane handling, and preparing for entry to the harvest floor, then work with knives and equipment as required.

The role requires standing for extended periods, tolerance for extreme temperatures, and the ability to work around moving machinery.

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures with moving machinery and knives.
• Previous meat processing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload and segregate live animals to prepare for the harvest floor.
• Humane handling and stunning of animals for entry to the harvest floor.
• Operate equipment and assist with hide removal, trimming, and processing as directed.
• Support weighing and boxing of product, and shipment preparation as orders are received.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety on the production floor.

Job Title: General Production

Location: Omaha

Reporting to: Floor Supervisor

Essential Job Functions:

• Unloading and segregating live animals in a humane manner and prepare for entering Harvest Floor.
• Stunning animals in a humane way to enter the harvest floor.
• Hide removal using dehider knives and other powered equipment.
• Harvesting of blood on the harvest floor in preparation for customer.
• Trimming of carcasses free of contaminates.
• Harvest of all offal products and prepare for customer.
• Operate scales to properly weigh proper payment to producers as well as receive proper payment from customers.
• Breakdown carcasses and save primals as desired by customers.
• Trim product to customer specifications.
• Box & bag trim and primals to customer specifications.
• Operate lifts to move product into storage and to prepare for shipment.
• Shipping of product as orders are received.

Experience/Skills/Abilities:

• Previous experience in a meat processing plant or similar manufacturing setting preferred but not required
• Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures with frequent exposure to moving machinery, knives, hooks, hot water and slippery floors
