Job summary

Pilgrim in Michigan is seeking a production supervisor for the slaughter and processing area. You will oversee daily operations, set up equipment, and train staff on job specifications.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of production experience, knowledge of meat processing, and strong management and communication skills; bilingual ability is a plus. Expect Monday–Friday with some weekend work and a benefits package including health care, life insurance, and a 401(k).

Responsibilities

• Monitor slaughter area and train staff on job specs.
• Coordinate attendance to fill vacancies and reduce turnover.
• Inspect area pre-operationally and set up equipment; submit work orders.
• Maintain food safety, HR and safety policies.
• Greet personnel to foster cohesive work environment.
• Audit product and employee safety during shifts.
• Minimize waste and maintain sanitary working conditions.
• Record post-operational attendance in Kronos.
• Lead monthly line meetings to address issues and concerns.

Qualifications

• Management/communication skills advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitors slaughter area by evaluating product and administering corrective procedures as sees fit (i.e. provides indirect job specification training).


• Coordinates attendance issues by coordinating personnel to fill vacant or absent positions and minimizing turnover rates.


• Conducts pre-operational inspection of area, sets up production equipment, and submits maintenance work orders as needed.


• Maintains food and work safety regulations, along with human resources and safety policies.


• Greets and speaks with personnel to provide cohesive working environment


• Audits product and employee safety throughout shift


• Controls waste by minimizing products sent to inedible and providing sanitary working environment


• Processes post-operational attendance information from Kronos system


• Conducts line meetings monthly or as circumstances dictate to address department issues or concerns

Working Conditions

• Production and maintenance settings


• Exposure to various chemicals, machinery, and knives


• Slippery floors, hot temperatures, and loud ambient noise


• Working on Harvest or Hides production floor for 50+ hours per week

Comments: The schedule for this position is typically Monday - Friday. Weekend work required as scheduled.
