Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Group Leader in Lake Orion, Michigan. This onsite role leads production teams, drives Lean practices, and focuses on safety, quality, and efficiency with training completed in the first eight weeks.

Candidates should have supervisory experience, strong problem-solving skills, and be prepared for rotating shifts and weekend coverage to meet production demands.

Qualifications

  • One year of direct supervisory experience or at least 5 months as an internal GM per diem group leader.
  • Experience managing, leading people, and addressing performance concerns.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts and regularly weekends to meet production demands.
  • Ability to work in a loud manufacturing environment and follow safety instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Production & Operational Management: analyze and adjust daily manufacturing plans and manage manpower allocation.
  • Leadership & Team Development: coach team members and Team Leaders; handle disciplinary interviews and grievances.
  • Continuous Improvement & Lean Practices: apply Lean Manufacturing to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost; drive throughputs and QABs.
  • Quality & Compliance: enforce quality processes with safety focus; ensure TA1 requirements are met.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: locate and analyze operational data to support accountability and improvements.
