Minimum Job Requirements


  • Physical- Proficient in using a PC keyboard
  • Working Hours- Full-time employment (45+ hours/week)
  • Personal Traits- Good communication abilities and the ability to work well with supervisors and employees. Ability to multitask with conscientious attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Display good leadership qualities. Be a role model for the department and set the standard of productivity, safety, and quality for employees at different levels to follow.

Job Duties and Responsibilities


This position is responsible for meeting production deadlines. This position has the authority to place purchase requisitions as needed for the day-to-day operation of the plant. This position will assist the Plant Manager with performance evaluations, wage increase recommendations, and appropriate disciplinary actions. Oversees equipment management, scheduling workstations and workers, requisition of supplies, and coordinating administrative activities as required. Produce parts and products by the company's established safety, quality, and cost standards. Authority to drive company forklifts if trained.


  • Ensure all department employees work safely and all hazardous conditions are eliminated.
  • Ensure statutory, regulatory, and environmental regulations are met.
  • Work closely with the Plant Manager and Quality Manager to meet quality standards and continuous improvement objectives and requirements.
  • Work to ensure the Quality Management System is met and upheld in all assigned departments.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations in the department.
  • Follow work schedules by department from the Master Production Schedules to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Make suggestions to the plant manager regarding manpower requirements to maximize the product's throughput while keeping production costs to a minimum.
  • Help design and implement procedures related to areas of responsibility as applicable.
  • Ensure cross-departmental communication is accurate and effective.
  • Supervise and monitor employees reporting to you, including performance evaluation, training, work allocation and problem resolution.
  • Ensure all applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Oversee the functioning and maintenance of all fabrication shop equipment and facilities.
  • Determine fabrication shop tooling requirements and priority sequence to ensure the most efficient and effective production process.
  • Ensure production departments operate within regulatory and statutory regulations.
  • Write up work procedures and train as required.
  • Monitor available time for production.
  • Assist with manufacturing process difficulties, i.e., tooling, drawing requirements, and interpretations.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems and procedures; safeguard and oversee the use of department supplies and materials.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of department inventory quantities at the end of each month.
  • Ensure the department maintains a neat and clean work area.
  • Ensure output meets required deadlines while executing the above.
  • Determine department tooling requirements and prioritize job sequences to ensure the most efficient and effective production process.
  • Ensure cross-training is adequate to maintain scheduling flexibility and redundancy.
  • Assist the plant manager in ensuring that adequate supervision is present at the plant, including weekends and other non-traditional workdays.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Ability to program/operate CNC Fabrication equipment, punch, form, press, and inspect products.
  • Good organizational skills are required to schedule the plant.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot process failures. Excellent mechanical acumen and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Friendly demeanor, experience working with customers.
  • Experienced in using Word, Excel, and ERP-type production, costing, inventory control, and purchasing systems.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to motivate and work well with others.
  • Understanding of environmental and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience with an MRP system and ISO.

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or comparable discipline, or Metal fabrication shop experience of 5+ years. 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
