Job summary

Astemo Ltd. is seeking an Engineering Professional to analyze and improve existing product and manufacturing process issues, developing and maintaining PFMEA, control plans, process flows, work instructions, and inspection documents in support of automotive programs.

The role coordinates manufacturing launches for new or revised products, applies design for manufacture and assembly principles, conducts cost-benefit analyses, and leads Kaizen activities to boost quality and efficiency on the shop

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create blueprints and technical documents.
  • Proficient with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, and 2D CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.
  • PLC knowledge with Omron or Keyence brands.

Responsibilities

  • Finds problems, plans, and implements improvements for existing product and manufacturing process issues.
  • Develops and maintains document quality system for PFMEA, control plan, process flow, work instructions, and inspection documents.
  • Performs research, development, evaluation, installation, operation and maintenance of manufacturing systems, processes, and equipment.
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including goals, training, and evaluating results.
  • Gives input to product design based on design for manufacture/assembly philosophy.
  • Performs cost-benefit analyses for cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency.
  • Leads or participates in Kaizen activities for continuous improvement.
  • Prepares and maintains layouts of building floor space, equipment, and tooling.
  • Trains Production and Maintenance Associates to improve technical knowledge.
  • Performs other work as assigned by Management.

Job description

  • Finds problems, plans, and implements improvements for existing product and manufacturing process issues.
  • Develop and maintain document quality system for new and existing programs (PFMEA, control plan, process flow, work instructions, and inspection documents).
  • Performs research, development, evaluation, installation, operation and maintenance of manufacturing systems, processes, and equipment to meet requirements.
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Gives input to product design based on design for manufacture/design for assembly philosophy.
  • Performs cost-benefit analysis for product and/or manufacturing process cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Leads or participates in Kaizen activities to ensure continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of building floor space, equipment, and tooling.
  • Performs routine activities accurately and promptly per instructions and procedures.
  • Train Production and Maintenance Associates to improve technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills on the production shop floor.
  • Performs other work as assigned by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with at least 2 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and create blueprints and technical documents.
  • Must be proficient with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, and 2D CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.
  • Required to have the PLC knowledge such as Omron, Keyence brand
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Required to sit or stand and move about the facility. Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Combination of office and plant environment. May be required to use safety glasses and wear steel toe shoes while performing specific tasks or while in specific manufacturing areas.
