Job summary

Turning Point Church seeks a Production Director to manage all AVL elements for weekend worship, guiding audio, video, and lighting operations across locations. The role emphasizes implementing technology and creative strategies to support church missions.

Ideal candidates bring 3–5+ years of live production experience, with strong FOH, MA2/MA lighting, ProPresenter, and Blackmagic systems skills, plus a track record leading volunteers and rehearsals.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in live production, preferably in a church or similar live-event environment.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for all technical AVL details in audio, video, and lighting for weekend worship experiences.
  • Manage AVL equipment including purchase, maintenance, organization, and operation for all locations.
  • Translate creative/vision into practical technical execution during services and rehearsals.
  • Lead rehearsals and ensure production elements are prepared before Sunday.
  • Recruit, train, develop, schedule, and retain volunteers; build capable operators.
  • Coordinate with worship, communications, pastoral, facilities, and other ministries.
  • Oversee production workflows, documentation, and SOPs where applicable.
  • Balance technical excellence with flexibility in ministry environments.

Job description

The Production Director is directly responsible for all of the technical details in the audio, video and lighting areas within our weekend worship experiences. The Production Director manages all AVL equipment, including the purchase, maintenance, organization and operation of all AVL equipment for all locations.

The Production Director seeks to add value through the use of technology and creative strategies that help Turning Point Church accomplish its mission and goals.

The following consist of the type of skill and ministry experience we are looking for:

TechnicalProductionExperience
  • 3–5+ years of hands‑on experience in liveproduction, preferably in a church or similar live-event environment.
  • Experience overseeingproductionfor weekly services, rehearsals, special events, and other ministry environments.
  • Strong working knowledge oflive audio, including FOH mixing, monitor/IEM systems, RF coordination, signal flow, system troubleshooting, and audio networking.
  • Experience with professional digital audio consoles;Allen & Heath dLive experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience withWaves/SoundGrid or similar live plugin processing systems.
  • Working knowledge oflighting systems, including programming, cueing, fixture configuration, DMX/networking, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience withMA Lighting consoles/software, preferably MA2 or transferable experience with comparable professional lighting platforms.
  • Experience withlive videoproductionand directing, including camera direction, shot composition, switching, routing, and broadcast/stream workflows.
  • Familiarity withBlackmagic Design video systems/switchersor comparable broadcast systems.
  • Advanced experience withProPresenter, including show preparation, arrangements, themes, stage displays, media, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working withplayback/tracks systems, Ableton Live, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding ofproductionnetworking, signal distribution, Dante/audio networking, video routing, and general AV infrastructure.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems during live environments.
Service Programming & Leadership Experience
  • Experience translating a creative or ministry vision into a practical technical execution.
  • Experience building and executing complete service flows across audio, lighting, video, lyrics, playback/tracks, and otherproductionelements.
  • Ability to anticipate technical and programming needs before rehearsals and services.
  • Experience leading rehearsals and ensuringproductionelements are prepared before Sunday.
  • Previous experienceleading both staff and volunteerproductionteams.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, develop, schedule, and retain volunteers.
  • Experience developing people from beginner-level volunteers into capable operators and leaders.
  • Ability to provide clear feedback and coaching while maintaining a healthy team culture.
  • Experience delegating responsibility rather than personally operating every position.
  • Ability to identify and develop futureproductionleaders.
  • Experience leading teams with varying levels of technical knowledge and experience.
Systems & Organizational Experience
  • Experience creating and maintainingproductionsystems, workflows, documentation, and SOPs.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple environments and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience maintainingproductionequipment, coordinating repairs, and planning preventative maintenance.Experience helping developproductionbudgets and prioritize equipment purchases/upgrades.
  • Ability to evaluate systems and recommend improvements based on ministry needs rather than simply purchasing new technology.
  • Experience coordinating with worship, communications, pastoral, facilities, and other ministry departments.
Church & Ministry Experience
  • Experience working within achurchproductionenvironment is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of the unique relationship between worship, pastoral leadership, programming, andproduction.
  • Ability to balancetechnical excellence with flexibility in ministry environments.
