Job summary

HID, based in Austin, TX, invites applications for a Credentials Engineer to shape polymer-based credential products. You’ll work at the intersection of materials science, manufacturing, and security, designing multi-layer structures and evaluating manufacturability for scalable, secure solutions.

The role collaborates with global teams, supports new credential technologies, and ensures feasibility prior to customer commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field and relevant design experience.
• Experience with polymer-based materials (PC, PVC, PET) and lamination/bonding.
• Ability to translate material properties into manufacturable designs and read technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Identify CPI opportunities and share with global teams.
• Develop credential constructions including materials, layer stack-ups, and architecture.
• Ensure designs meet security, functional, and durability requirements.
• Define manufacturing feasibility and process constraints (lamination, adhesion, thermal interaction).
• Develop validation plans and testing methods for new designs.
• Translate product concepts into production-ready solutions.
