Job summary

Sweet Apparel Inc in New York, NY is seeking a detail-oriented Production Coordinator / Sr. Production Coordinator to support apparel development in our sweater division.

This on-site role sits in Midtown Manhattan and requires coordinating calendars, PO management, and cross-functional collaboration across design, production, and operations. You will manage WIP, source fabrics, negotiate costs, ensure compliance, and partner with logistics to meet delivery windows.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of production experience in apparel, fashion, or textile industries, sweaters a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred.
• Proven track record managing overseas production and experience with wholesale and off-price channels is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills; familiarity with international shipping, customs, and logistics.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full production calendar aligned with seasonal buys and delivery windows.
• Issue, track, and follow up on purchase orders through production stages.
• Monitor WIP and flag at-risk orders to prevent delays.
• Coordinate fabric, trim, and material sourcing timelines with factories.
• Liaise with overseas factories on production status, capacity planning, and issue resolution.
• Negotiate production costs, minimums, and lead times; ensure compliance and quality standards.
• Oversee quality control at key milestones and manage chargebacks or debits for issues.
• Collaborate with logistics to ensure timely container bookings and on-time delivery to distribution centers.
• Prepare and present regular production status reports and KPIs to leadership.

Teams collaborate closely across design, production, and operations to bring fashion-forward products to market efficiently.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Production Coordinator / Sr. Production Coordinator to support apparel development within our sweater division!

Please note: this is an on-site position in Midtown Manhattan where we work in office 5 days/week!

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full production calendar, ensuring alignment with seasonal buy plans and customer delivery windows
• Issue, track, and follow up on purchase orders through every stage of production
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) reports and proactively flag at-risk orders
• Coordinate fabric, trim, and material sourcing timelines with factories to avoid production delays
• Serve as the primary liaison with overseas factories on production status, capacity planning, and issue resolution
• Negotiate production costs, minimums, and lead times
• Ensure factories adhere to compliance, labor, and quality standards
• Oversee quality control processes and inspections at key production milestones
• Manage resolution of quality issues, including negotiating chargebacks or debits with factories when applicable
• Ensure all production complies with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements
• Partner with logistics and shipping teams to ensure timely container bookings and on-time delivery to distribution centers and retail partners
• Track past-due and at-risk shipments, escalating issues and driving resolution
• Reconcile production data against shipping and invoicing records to confirm accuracy
• Prepare and present regular production status reports, KPIs, and past-due analyses to leadership
• Support financial reporting by providing accurate production cost and timeline data

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in production within the apparel, fashion, or textile industry. Sweaters experience a huge plus!
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred
• Proven track record managing production overseas
• Experience managing production for both wholesale and off-price retail channels a plus
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis)
• Strong understanding of costing terms including FOB, LDP, and DDP
• Familiarity with international shipping, customs, and logistics processes
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
• Sharp attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy under deadline pressure
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate and resolve production risks proactively

Target compensation for this role starts at $70k/yr dependent on experience
