Job summary

UVM Health - Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY, seeks a qualified cook to support meal service by preparing and cooking foods in quantity under the direction of the Executive Chef.

This role also performs cold food production for patients, cafeteria and deli, adhering to federal and state safety standards. Education: HS diploma; 2+ years in quantity cooking; Serve Safe preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2.2-3 years experience in quantity food preparation and short order cooking required.
• Working knowledge of Federal and State regulatory standards for safety and sanitation.
• Serve Safe certification and healthcare kitchen experience preferred.
• Ability to use food production equipment and knowledge of cooking methods.

General Summary

Qualifications

Education/Skills Required:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2.2-3 years experience in quantity food preparation and short order cooking required.
• Working knowledge of Federal and State regulatory standards for safety and sanitation.
• Prefer a culinary degree, serve safe certified quantity food service and experience in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to utilize food production equipment and knowledge of cooking methods and procedures.
• As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
